Hotel nice but spa disappointing

Six of us stayed at Real Bellavista for a week over Christmas in a mix of double, twin and sole occupancy rooms. The hotel kindly gave us rooms near to each other. The hotel didn't appear full at all and there were always plenty of tables available in the restaurant and bar. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and there was a good choice of breakfast items. Bedrooms were spacious and clean. An alarm sounded from the air con system in one of our rooms in the early hours of Christmas Day but a member of staff came to look at it, turned off the alarm and it was fixed the same day. Reception staff were always very helpful as was the driver of the free shuttle bus which operates from the hotel to the old and new parts of Albufeira. However, a couple of the bar staff seemed a bit grumpy and evidently didn't like making certain drinks, even going as far as telling us we couldn't have hot drinks one evening (presumably because they couldn't be bothered to switch the kettle on even though there were no other customers in the bar!). Part of the reason for choosing this hotel was the spa which was disappointing. The water in the indoor pool was quite cold, the hot tub seemed to have disappeared, there were no staff in the spa and the lockers in the changing room had no locks so we had to leave our belongings unattended. However, for the price over Christmas this was a good place to stay.

Christmas in Real Bellavista, Albufeira

Just spent Christmas in Albufeira and stayed at Real Bellavista for 4 nights on a b&b option. The hotel is situated in a quiet area, about 25 mins walk from the beach, but there’s a regular free bus service from the hotel which goes to the old town & 2 other spots in town. There’s also Uber which was very cheap! The staff at the hotel are fantastic: very friendly and welcoming. They even arranged a takeaway breakfast for our last day to take to the airport: ham & cheese baguettes, cake, apples & water. Breakfast at the hotel was lovely with a good selection of food and the fresh fruit was amazing! There’s a games room which has air hockey, pin ball, pool, table football, car racing game and a cupboard of board games. The indoor pool was a bit disappointing as the water was so cold so I couldn’t swim, but if that doesn’t bother you then it’s a nice enough pool with seats around it and glass with views of the garden and outdoor pool. Down the hill you’ll find the Swatch roundabout (there are lots of quirky roundabouts!), KFC, McD’s and a few shops. Overall, we had a very enjoyable stay and highly recommend Real Bellavista Hotel.
