Absolutely gutted to have to write this but wish I had taken on board the negative reviews as they are so accurate! We booked this a year ago as we wanted something real luxury, somewhere we would feel spoiled and relaxed, with lots of opportunities for experiences and with great food and drinks on offer. We paid a lot more than we would ever pay for a holiday like this because we thought we were going to get the full works. (If we are to compare, we paid a little more last year to tour Sri Lanka and the Maldives which was AMAZING!!) I could write an essay but will try and just give main points. For context, they said this was their busiest period with almost 4000 people in the hotel! (We wouldn't have booked such a big resort if we had known!) We paid extra for what we thought was a better room when we booked. From reading reviews, we realised we had actually paid for one of the very old and dated rooms, in a very noisy part of the hotel overlooking the 'entertainment' centre. We tried for over a month before leaving to have our room changed to one of the quieter areas (Marine or Fantasy area) and we would have down graded or paid the extra but we were told there was no availability by the hotel. TUI quoted an upgraded room of £10,000 which we declined! Our main building room was very dated and scruffy but the worst thing was the noise! The view of the sea and pool was beautiful and we saw some incredible sunrises! (Whilst watching the madness of the 'towels on sunbeds' rush!) The 'restaurants' - wow. I have been calling it the canteen as I have never been to a hotel where the main AI restaurants are so crazy!! No tables, people pushing, plates smashing, no drinks....and the food is 3/10 at best. We complained and ended up being given mostly a la carte restaurants - all very very quiet but so much better! Rude rude rude people. To the hardworking staff, to other guests....lots of very entitled and ignorant guests here! Kids Club...10/10....if only we had been told about it and what they offered! It took us a week to work it out as English is not widely used and the app is rubbish. You have to book...early. Some classes are not advertised to the 'paupers' of the hotel, such as the cooking class, and you have to book a week in advance. We didnt get a booking. The pottery, electronics and painting classes were great. They do football and basketball classes and kids get a free Tshirt. Smoking - you will end up passive smoking as it seems most people in this hotel smoke anywhere and everywhere. Land of Legends - brill when you actually get there. Crazy crazy bus queue - we stood at the back and let them fight it out and got on the last bus. There are buses for everyone but some seem to think if they dont get on that first one, they'll miss out. We did the rides first and had no queues. We went to the shopping area for lunch- had MDonalds and Subway which was cheaper than the park. If you get DLA ask for a fast track, you get 2 - person and carer. 'Entertainment' - we had so so much better in Tunisia. Very loud, very samey, not enough seats...waiters not speaking English. The kids carnival was mental....quieter kids have no chance of getting to any activity. There was a 12 year old Russian pop star there one night! Kids restaurant - a great idea but not for an a la carte! Thankfully most people get a 'free' invite from a class, please do not pay for this! Experiences - so much on offer with sports etc but very competitive, for very sporty people and hardly any spaces. For example paddleboarding, 9am every day first come first served. 10 spaces....for 4000 people. And the same people pushing in the queue every day. £100 pp to hire a posh cabana for a day. £250 for a 3 hr speedboat trip. £150 for 10 mins in a posh jet ski. Cocktails and service in the marine bar....20/10. The absolute best, quietest, calmest, beautiful bar with the most amazing staff!! THIS is what we were expecting! We would not return here. If you have confident 5 to 10 year olds you could do a week to 10 days but honestly....spend your hard earned money elsewhere unless you have a real bargain here. It's a 'nice' stay, but not a 'wow, blown away' stay. Wish we had swapped.
