Amazing sea front view, shame about the hotel.

Where to start. The hotel location and the view from the room were excellent but that was about where the good points stop. This is the fifth visit to the island and by far the worst accommodation. We stayed in room 201 which is a two room two bathroom apartment. To confirm other reviews, there is no beach (the pictures on the web must be decades old) and the music can be heard in the room as loud as the television in the room and goes on until midnight (although we didn’t mind this). The staff don’t care about their gusts and are rude. We had to wait until 16:00 to get into our room as it was still being cleaned (check in was meant to be 15:00). However, it really wasn’t clean at all! The room needs a really deep clean and maintenance is very poor. There was a hair stuck on the fridge for ten days as well a chewing gum on the top. When we first went to our rooms there was hair in the showers. We witnessed the cleaner clean bird poo off the balcony using the same mop used for the kitchen and toilets. The safety chain on the main door was broken and was not fixed during our ten day stay. The door to the balcony was secured using a tiny bolt. The kitchen facilities are very poor, one sharp knife, one pan, one frying pan and four of everything like plates and cutlery, making cooking hard. The hotel as a whole could do with a deep clean and maintenance. We have given it two stars as we did enjoy our holiday, just a shame about the hotel.

Give credit where it is due, I had a wonderful holiday at the Rostrevor Hotel. Staff made the experience special, as all so nice. Reception / Maintenance / Room Maids and Bar staff, I could not fault. Special mention to Verna x. Great value, in a great location, hotel is clean and well maintained. View is stunning and I will be returning, thankyou Rostrevor.

Awful bathroom

Not as advertised no beach. We had to move rooms when got there as air conditioning unit leaking water. Was told when first got there no top floor rooms available but suddenly found one when had to move. Bathrooms awful shower had two settings cold or scalding hot. Had cold showers for 10 days. Also had shower curtain not very hygienic. Staff not very friendly apart from maintenance men. Hotel needs a complete refurb.

Expensive & watch out for hidden costs

We stayed at Rostrevor for a week. We were a group of seven, all adults, two families, stayed in two double bed suits. Excellent location, beautiful see views and very clean. Nice pool. However, there were some areas where we felt we were scammed. We had bed and breakfast paid at the time of booking. It was full breakfast. We did not realise that we had to pay extra for breakfast which we felt was sneaky. My daughter used conference room for one early morning to sit her online postgraduate medical examination. We were charged for that. This somewhat spoilt our fun. If you are staying at this hotel, watch out for hidden breakfast charges.. In summary, we enjoyed our stay for a week due to its nice location, clean swimming pool, cleanliness and beautiful views from balcony. However, it is expensive and the hidden costs, without considering the local taxes, will pinch your wallet.
