This hotel enjoys a spectacular location in Funchal Bay, directly beside the Atlantic Ocean. A supermarket, diverse shops, a bar and restaurants are to be found close to the hotel and the sea is also just a few minutes walk away. The city centre lies1 km away and there is a stop for the public transport service is approximately 50 m from the hotel. Housed in an architecturally interesting building, this hotel has an exclusive level of comfort. Built in 2002, there are a total 10 floors with 174 junior and superior suites. Amongst the facilities at this particularly elegant hotel count a foyer with a 24-hour reception desk, 6 lifts and a safe in the rooms. There are also several boutiques and common rooms (games room, library, TV room and lounge), a hairdresser's salon and a conference room. Dining options include a piano bar and 1 air-conditioned restaurant with à la carte and 1 buffet service. The Hotel also feature a public Internet terminal, medical assistance on request and laundry service. The comfortable, modern rooms each come with an en suite bathroom with a hairdryer as well as a balcony, a king-sized bed, a direct dial telephone, satellite TV, a radio, a minibar, a hire safe and individually controllable air conditioning and central heating. The equally tastefully furnished studios and apartments come with a combined bedroom/ lounge and a fully equipped kitchenette with a fridge. The apartments additionally come with a separate bedroom.

Perfect two weeks

We had another glorious 2 weeks at the Royal Savoy. Staff are simple the best and go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. The food in the Armada is devine, definitely 5 stars. The staff Miguel, Luis, Roberto, Joao, Pedro and all of the other staff members just make the whole experience perfect. The whole atmosphere is just what you need for a relaxing break away being looked after to the highest standard. Thank you so much to everyone at The Roysl Savoy

A return to Maderia

This was our first return to Maderia since 2018 having visited many times before but staying in the hotel next door on each occasion. We booked a Junior Suite which though slightly dated provided ample space and all facilities needed to enjoy your stay with glorious views from the 5th floor. We stayed on a Bed and Breakfast basis as visitors to Maderia will be aware of the numerous restraunts that Funchal offers within walking distance (15 minutes) or an 8 euro taxi ride. Breakfast was of a good standard hot and cold selection but surprisingly not waiter service. Pool areas were exceptionally clean with direct access to the sea. Staff were very helpful particular at room service and nighttime pillow turndown. Also tea and coffee plus bottled water were provided simple touches that are often hard to find as not extras these days. Would we stay again....yes....hopefully to book again in late November 2025. Thank you to the staff at the Royal Savoy

Superb hotel.

Spent a week in a sea view Junior Suite on a bed & breakfast basis. Superb stay ~ loved every second of it. Great location, excellent facilities and on the whole, superb staff. Very clean and room was very spacious easily accommodating three people and amongst the best hotel beds we have encountered ( huge bed ). Meals at the poolside bar quite expensive so we didn’t partake, but drinks generally well priced. Two main bars didn’t have the same drinks menus and there was no inclination to provide any switchover which was frustrating. Evening entertainment varied from very good to a bit out dated. On the whole though a great hotel, which has the benefit of returning guests who have timeshare rooms within the hotel with some returning every year for 20 years plus, so that gives the hotel, along with the room decor, a very homely experience. Lots of spaces in the building to relax. Pool was good and no problem with finding sun beds by the pool or directly overlooking the Atlantic Ocean south facing. Easy access to a very cold sea area for swimming. Certainly very worthy of its five star rating and for us, worth returning to, especially given how beautiful and friendly Madeira is,

Wonderful staff. Disappointing food

My wife and I have recently returned from a week on half board at the Royal Savoy. The hotel is beautifully positioned at the water’s edge. Our superior suite was spacious with a bedroom, walk-in wardrobe, sitting room, dining area, small kitchen, two bathrooms and a spacious balcony overlooking the sea. It was kept spotless by our maid. Other reviewers have commented about the wonderful members of staff. I fully endorse this; they are exemplary. Everyone at the hotel was helpful, friendly and proud of their beautiful island. The most disappointing aspect of our stay was the food at lunch and dinner. The menu was generally unexciting. Portions were often over-large and the food was rather bland, heavy and uninspiring. Presentation was plain. Many dishes were accompanied by large portions of French fries, boiled potatoes, fried cornmeal and a generic mixture of vegetables. Having seen the wide variety of fresh produce available on the island, the safe choices offered were disappointing. It was basic mass catering rather than what I expected at a 5* hotel. Although this was the most unimpressive hotel catering we have experienced in many years, perhaps it suited the older clientele of the hotel, many of whom stay for long periods and have been returning for years.
