This hotel enjoys a spectacular location in Funchal Bay, directly beside the Atlantic Ocean. A supermarket, diverse shops, a bar and restaurants are to be found close to the hotel and the sea is also just a few minutes walk away. The city centre lies1 km away and there is a stop for the public transport service is approximately 50 m from the hotel. Housed in an architecturally interesting building, this hotel has an exclusive level of comfort. Built in 2002, there are a total 10 floors with 174 junior and superior suites. Amongst the facilities at this particularly elegant hotel count a foyer with a 24-hour reception desk, 6 lifts and a safe in the rooms. There are also several boutiques and common rooms (games room, library, TV room and lounge), a hairdresser's salon and a conference room. Dining options include a piano bar and 1 air-conditioned restaurant with à la carte and 1 buffet service. The Hotel also feature a public Internet terminal, medical assistance on request and laundry service. The comfortable, modern rooms each come with an en suite bathroom with a hairdryer as well as a balcony, a king-sized bed, a direct dial telephone, satellite TV, a radio, a minibar, a hire safe and individually controllable air conditioning and central heating. Lovely hotel and staff

We previously stayed at the Savoy Palace which was terrific. The Royal Savoy is much smaller but has a lovely calming atmosphere. The age profile is older and as such the pace is lovely facilitated by staff who are consistently five star with genuine care and support. We look forward to returning in the future. Thank you

A fantastic hotel in every respect. Great room with excellent facilities. Amazing staff in all areas. Food in both restaurants, pool side and roof terrace excellent. One of the best hotels for outside pool area with sunbeds in various locations giving quiet areas to sit. Lovely indoor pool, sauna and steamroom. SPA treatment was first class.

Fine but needs improvement to qualify as a 5 star hotel.

Good & helpful staff. Good grounds & facilities but the hotel needs refurbishment & improvements in room cleanliness & the quality of the hot buffet breakfast in order to justify a 5 Star rating. In addition one lift was totally out of action, with no explanation as to the problem, for the whole of our 10 night stay in a Junior Suite with sea view.

Wonderful hotel

Everything about the hotel was wonderful. Our room was immaculately clean every day and the bed was very comfortable. The view from the balcony was fabulous, 180 degrees, overlooking the sea, gardens and pool area. So lovely to sit there and relax. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic, especially the breakfasts and the buffet nights. All the pools were so clean. It was the end of April, so it was so good to have a heated outdoor pool to use. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will book there again when we return to Madeira.

Good option in Funchal

We stayed at the Royal Savoy for a week and enjoyed our stay. The property is well located on the water (but has no beach), walking distance from the old town. We had a ground floor garden room which we enjoyed as we had easy access to the pool area. The hotel has two big outdoor pools (but only one is heated), an indoor pool, a small gym and a padel court. Our room was sufficiently spacious with a small outdoor area. Staff were nice for the most part. The price for a stay over Easter was fair especially with breakfast included and the daily food/drink allowance. There are some things the resort could do better though: (1) food quality should be better; (2) the beds were too firm for us; (3) very few daytime on-site activities (including nothing for the padel court - there is a good padel centre 2kms away). Note that there are two other Savoy properties next door - the Savoy Palace seems more upscale including the restaurant options.
