Exceptional, friendly and wonderful hotel?

We have literally just arrived home about an hour ago from this wonderful hotel. It was such a hit for my family and I that I felt compelled to write about it immediately. This was our first visit to Lanzarote and the hotel itself, after reading some of the reviews I wasn't expecting much, however our experience at this hotel absolutely exceeded our expectations. Although we booked AI with our tour operator I wanted a good view from the room. I emailed the hotel who immediately responded and allocated us the perfect seaview room. I also mentioned it was my husband's birthday when we were there, on the morning of his birthday we found a bottle of bubbly a balloon dog and a card on the dresser in our room, such a lovely suprise. The whole staff and entertainment team could not have been more courteous and helpful, and always greeted us with a smile. The cleaners were wonderful and kept our room spotless throughout our stay. The entertainment team were fantastic and worked tirelessly day and night to keep adults and children entertained. There was entertainment every evening and during the day, the highlights of which were the foam party and the white party. The food was tasty, hot and plentiful with plenty of choice. The children loved the burgers and ice creams at the snack bar. We also booked the Chinese and mexican restaurant which is included but has to be booked as it's a smaller, focused restaurant. It was absolutely stunning in decor and the food served here was to die for. Top quality traditional cuisine which was at a Michelin level, highly recommend you do this when you visit. We hired a car so the location of the hotel was not a problem for us but I heard the walk to the marina is 30 minutes. The marina is lovely with a gorgeous shopping area, harbour, restaurants and shops, the area is beautifully clean with a beautiful beach further down. I was concerned about the sunbed situation as I had read the difficulties in people getting them, however we never had a problem, we always secured one at around 08:00-08:30am with an umbrella. There were often people already out on their sunbeds when we got to the pool but there was always quite a few left. I don't know if we were fortunate or whether it was due to us being there at the end of the school holidays, but as already mentioned we never had an issue getting a sunbed and parasol. I literally have no complaints. We have travelled both long haul and around the EU.y 12 year old Son stayed it was the best holiday he's ever had and we went yo Florida 2 years ago! So it shows how wonderful our experience was here. I Highly recommend this hotel if you want a wonderful holiday to make memories with your family. We will definitely return over and over again, we have fallen in love with this hotel as a family.

Great family holiday

We came in July as a family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids. We had the best time! The pools are great, staff are lovely and entertainment was good! Food was good, the only reason I'm not giving a 5 star is because of the sun bed situation and the towels, it drives me nuts! Me and my son (12) are early risers and like to read so we would come down around 7:30 to read and grab 4 beds but by 8am most had gone and we were still the only ones by the pool. We'd watch people put down their towels and not return all day, we felt guilty just nipping off for lunch with ours on the bed! My daughter (8) requires insulin, the hotel delivered a large fridge to our room for her insulin. Kids entertainment is great, so many activities from foam parties to inflatables in the pool like slides and things to climb on! We had a great time, lovely shopping area / cafes behind hotel. Beach was a let down, very windy and purchased an umbrella for shade but blew in half, super windy. Plenty fishes to feed in the sea, they love banana and pear. Definitely recommend :)

Lovely hotel, Highly recommended.

It’s been a little over a week since we arrived home after a week’s stay at Sandos Papagayo celebrating my birthday and only just getting over the holiday blues! I thought I would leave an honest review of our time there for anyone looking to visit. We are a couple in our 30’s no children and I have to be completely honest the hotel is amazing. We stayed in Block E and had a stunning ocean view and also very clean modern room. We did not feel the need to go RE as we were happy with everything the hotel had to offer without it, although I can see why people upgrade. There seemed quite a lot of entertainment around the pools for those with children also! Food was as expected of an all inclusive resort of that size but I have to say I was surprised at the amount of choice which I didn’t have the last time I went all inclusive elsewhere. Nice food too. Location of the hotel is great with a 15 minute or so walk to the marina (which is amazing by the way) and only a €5-€6 taxi ride in to playa blanca. 5-10 minutes away we loved the little shopping area with a few bars located also. If I had to pick at one slight negative it would just be that the adults pool had quite a few children/under 18s seated around with no one checking this as I think we only saw 2 lifeguards around the whole week. Now this did not affect us at all I just see the issues around the sun beds and do think this doesn’t help but either way didn’t stop up us enjoying ourselves or bother us. All in all, we wanted a nice relaxing week away to just shut off and we got just that. Very clean hotel, friendly staff, good food and drinks. We also met some great people along the way. Highly recommend this place and Lanzarote as a whole is such a beautiful country! Also, (Bring yourself an insulated cup to keep that beer cold! 🍻)

Fantastic hotel!!

First time visiting the hotel and hopefully it won’t be the last. We had paid extra for a room with a sea view and were given a room in block H (1130), it was fantastic as not only did we have a sea view we also had a pool view! The room was bright and spacious, the air conditioning was a godsend and the balcony was nice and big (I would of loved a sunbed on there to lay out in for when I was unable to get an umbrella by the pools, this would of allowed me to dip back into the room for a cooldown 😁) I feel the only thing letting the room down was the bathroom especially around the bath but it didn’t spoil the holiday. The room was cleaned daily by a great team of cleaners who always greeted you. The animation team work tirelessly which I witnessed from the balcony, they are great with the kids! The food - WOW! Everything was amazing, breakfast, lunch and dinner in the main restaurant was delicious and lots of variety. We really enjoyed our visits to the Fusion restaurant both the Asian and Mexican meals were fantastic but our favourite was definitely the Asian. The snack bar (I must say I’ve never experienced anything like it regarding the amount of choice) was great, something for everyone. The staff working behind the bars, especially the pool bar are always busy but they do it with a smile on their faces especially William S who was always so friendly. We used the free bus a couple of times which took us to playa dorado and explored the shops down there and the marina. We always got a taxi back and it only cost €4. My main gripe was the evening entertainment which I thought was a bit of a letdown (apart from the White party which was excellent). There’s not enough seating area and the queue for the bar was at times reaching the entrance to the snack bar. Saturday and Sunday night were extremely busy as the theatre bar had no shows on so wasn’t open. We paid €50 to keep the room for longer on departure day which was a godsend and it was great that you could find out the day before to see if it was available which meant we could enjoy the last night without worrying about packing as we were able to do it on departure day! I will definitely be recommending this hotel to friends and family and hopefully we’ll be back again soon!

Elite is hard to beat

Our 2 week trip was from 21st July to 4th August 2025 with the royal elite upgrade, this must be the 12th time that we have stayed at the Sandos Papagayo resort and as most of the time we stay as standard guests, I thought this review may be of use to compare the two options. We stayed once before as royal elite guests and thoroughly enjoyed the dedicated restaurant, we didn't really make use of the lounges as we enjoyed the entertainment in the theatre and chillout each night. During this stay, we used the lounges daily and really enjoyed the comfort of the furnishings on the outdoor terrace and the selection of premium branded drinks available. The atmosphere was very friendly and we met several families whom we chatted and laughed with for the duration of our stay. The food seems to have gotten even better since our 1st time in elite and although the restaurant is much smaller than the main restaurant, there was still a wide selection of incredibly tasty options. As ever, the staff were outstanding from arrival with the friendly reception team offering us a very warm welcome. We were delighted to see Odanis, Rami and Raul and were greeted like old friends, the newer members of the animation team are also a credit to the hotel. All the restaurant team, (especially Clarissa and Marina) the bar staff were friendly and hard working( especially Eva, John, Jean, the lady serving the Canary bar each morning and our lovely friend Teresa) John, Spok hopes your eye is feeling better :) Overall, we will definitely be returning and it would be hard not to choose the Elite option as we had the best every stay this year.

Sandos Papagayo . All Inclusive is located on the seafront in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote. The hotel is close to beaches of the Papagayo Natural Park (600m). The Timanfaya National Park is 20 km away. The rooms are spacious and bright, with a balcony with views, bathroom with hairdryer, satellite TV with international channels. Each room provides a safety deposit box (supplement charge).
