A TOTALLY HONEST Review

Me and my partner have just come back from a beautiful holiday to Miami and we stayed here at the Secret Garden Miami Hotel. I was a little concerned seeing what people had wrote about this hotel on reviews but our experience was completely different. The hotel staff were incredibly welcoming to us, greeting us each morning when we left reception to go out and explore with a smile. A lady working in housekeeping was also lovely to us, especially on our check out day and helping us with our bags and keeping them safe so we could enjoy more of Miami before we went home. The room was clean and I would like to highlight SPACIOUS! The location is brilliant as it’s right next to the beach. The room has air conditioning and the hotel is also accessible for guests who may require additional assistance with a lift in the hotel. The bed was huge and comfortable, there WERE soaps, towels, flannels, shampoo and conditioner in the room with a shower over a jacuzzi bath. Cleaners came round every day to tidy the rooms. Only thing I may just highlight is the noise in the corridors and other rooms, the walls weren’t particularly that soundproof so we could hear doors shutting, people chatting when we were in our room. We didn’t come to the hotel for the breakfast. On a welcome sheet the hotel gave to us on check in they recommended some locations to go out and eat breakfast and also lunch and dinner.The hotel offers essentials like toasts, eggs etc for their own breakfast but the hotel doesn’t state they do waffles, pancakes. The hotel I would describe as boutique with a charm and a lot of character and attention to details. The value was incredible also! I hope our experience has helped your decision! I’m sure we will come back and visit again soon 😊

RUN... THE OTHER WAY! Do not stay at this Hotel!

We booked to stay here for a couple of days from 2-4 January but ended up checking out the very next morning (early!). Where do I start... there was nothing good about it and certainly not a 4 star rated hotel. A 3 at best! When we arrived late in the evening of the first day, the Hotel was like a ghost town and dark and not well lit. We had to confirm that it was in fact the Hotel. They had visitors come in at the same and were more concerned about their friends than us. Their computers did not work and they insisted on taking photos of our credit card including the security, to which we refused. We booked a junior suite which was certainly not the room we were given. The room was small (not like the picture shown); there was no door to the bathroom (a major concern); the mattress had plastic on it which rustled every time we moved in the bed; the sheets did not fit the mattress and kept coming out every time we moved; there was grit or sand on the bottom sheet and certainly some bugs, as we were bitten. There was no soap; no shampoo or conditioner; only one bath towel (we were two people); no face washer and no tissues. We had to ask for all of these and were told that we could use the shampoo as soap/body wash as they had no stock and could not provide tissues either. The TV did not work. The furniture in the room was old and broken. The mixer tap on the bathroom sink was broken and the handle fell off every time we tried to use it. When we raised our concerns with the owner/manager late on our first evening, we were told that there was no other room they could move us to as we booked through a third party (Expedia/Qantas). When we checked out the following morning a different staff member insisted that they could have moved us to a better room as they did in fact have availability. But we just had to get out. We booked elsewhere which was a true and proper 4 star hotel with a choice of breakfast for a lot less and nearer to South Beach. The Hotel advertised free breakfast, which consisted of one boiled egg, one slice of bread and some cereal. As other reviewers have written, very poor standards and we declined breakfast. My advice always read the reviews no matter where you go or stay. But please DO NOT stay at this hotel. Its just disgusting!
