Disappointing Stay at a Usually Reliable Brand

I was very disappointed with my recent stay at this Secrets resort. Several issues impacted our experience: the room phone didn’t work, the patio jacuzzi was dirty, and the Preferred Club lounge A/C was out of service the entire time, making it unusable. Despite booking a Preferred Club room, the amenities didn’t meet expectations. We also weren’t offered any welcome drinks at check-in, and the food was mediocre with limited variety. I had noted we were celebrating a birthday, but there was no acknowledgment from the resort. Most concerning was the feeling of unequal treatment. While the pool concierge was attentive to other guests, we felt overlooked and ignored. This was deeply disappointing and not in line with the inclusive service we expected. I’ve had great experiences at other Secrets properties, but this stay has made me reconsider returning to the brand

Wonderful Experience

We had a wonderful vacation here. The staff at Rosewater were all amazing, especially Silvio. He was so attentive and provided exceptional service. We'd also like to recognize Daniel at the Secrets pool. The nicest and most personable guy ever! Thanks to all the staff for making it a memorable stay for us. We also loved the food and beautiful ocean front room. We will definitely be back!

This was one of the best experiences on vacation i’ve ever had! My wife and I arrived on May 17th, 2025 and immediately were welcomed by such friendly staff and that continued all week long. The food the drinks and the entertainment were nothing short of amazing. Jesus in the preferred Bar was amazing all week making sure we were hydrated, Manuel at the spoon buffet was amazing and Spicy Luis on the secrets entertainment team made sure we were having fun day in and day out! Thank you to all the staff and people behind the scenes that made this the trip of a lifetime.

A Little Disappointed by this Secrets

The resort is clean, rooms are clean, turn down service was very good. Mini bar restocked daily. It was a pleasant stay. There is only one restaurant on the Secrets side. All the other restaurants are located on Breathless side. I found the drinks that were served at the pool was very weak. I ordered various types and non were good. It was a good thing I booked a Preferred room which gave me access to the Preferred Lodge for top tier alcohol and even then I had to ask for an extra shot on the side to add to my drink. Restaurants and nightly entertainment is fine. The only restaurant you cannot wear shorts in is the French restaurant. All others dress shorts are fine. Club shuts down at 1pm. I have visited multiple Secret's in Mexico and DR, this one by far did not meet my expectations.

Having access to both Secrets and Breathless (both of which are adults only) was a big plus!

The service, particularly of the Preferred Club team and management, was excellent. We had an issue with our travel agent messing up our booking (they booked us in the wrong room type) and even though the resort was fully booked, the Supervisor of the Preferred Club was very helpful in assisting us to sort out the issue. Rosewater restaurant, which only Secrets guests get access to, was really fabulous and we enjoyed spending time in the Secrets side when we wanted to relax and chill out. But having access to Breathless was fantastic as well. There are 2 more pools there, one with a DJ everyday and one as an 'activity' pool where there was always something on. The entertainment here was also fabulous. We did experience a couple of maintenance issues, but again, these were handled quickly and very efficiently. Having spent time Secrets Aura Cozumel after we left Secrets Riviera Cancun, and can highly recommend this resort over the one in Cozumel (which doesn't even come close)!. Service, food, drinks and entertainment were all fantastic and having access to both Secrets and Breathless (both of which are adults only) was a big plus!
