Disappointing Stay – Not 5-Star

Review of Secrets Punta Cana (August 25 Stay) We booked Secrets Punta Cana expecting a 5-star luxury experience, but unfortunately, our stay was disappointing from start to finish. The biggest issue was the lack of service and communication. Very few staff members spoke English, which made even simple requests difficult. Customer service was poor — we had to contact our assigned concierge daily just to address basic issues such as our room not being cleaned, missing soap and conditioner, and no bathroom essentials (no extraction fan, no toilet brush). Even after requesting, some items were never supplied. Food was another major problem. The quality was far below expectations for a 5-star resort. Meals were often overcooked, dry, tasteless, or served cold. The specialty restaurants were even worse, with very limited menus and poorly prepared dishes. On the positive side, the beds were comfortable and the facilities looked great. However, the service, food, and overall customer care were extremely poor. To add to the frustration, when we booked a bellboy to collect our luggage for departure (a day in advance), no one showed up. Overall, this was not the 5-star experience we paid for, and we left very disappointed.

Beautiful resort - would return!

Beautiful resort, excellent staff and drinks. Wasn't overly impressed with the food but that could just be a personal preference. Our first experience in the Dominican and our first time at an All Inclusive. We would absolutely return.

Wowww Can really say it only with one word Wow. One of the best hotels i have stayed at. Hotel is beautiful, rooms are spacious and well furnished. Restaurants are all amazing and the food is delicious. Entertainment during the day and night also amazing. Staff are faultless very attentive, lovely people that work so hard I feel they don’t get enough credit. Morning to evening non stop working with always a smile on their face and service is exceptional. Swimming pools you have the fun side and also you have the quiet pool which we spent most of the time. The gym is great and definitely book a spa time as they have sauna, steam room, stone wall, cold plunge, jacuzzi, and hydro pool the experience is so worth the money and you can relax with a nice water and some nibbles. I forgot to write down the names of people to really give personal acknowledgment but they are all amazing from staff. Some of the names I manage to get were The lovely Jiow entertainment team Ranona from the restaurants Kawazaki (just how he introduced himself but it’s the chef from the Habachi Japanese restaurant) Euris front desk so welcoming, gentle approach as we were tired after a long flight and lovely person a pleasure to be introduced to The guys at the bar were lovely Honestly I can’t fault anything during our stay everything was perfect The beach is lovely but of course because of the hurricane the water was only seaweed (not hotels fault at all as this can’t be controlled) the beach was cleaned every morning from the seaweed so the sand was lovely Thank you 🙏🏾

Disappointed and not returning to a Secrets

After paying for Preferred, and the accompanying service received, I would never ever do that again, if I were going to stay at a Secrets. But that won't be the case. Since the Hyatt takeover, the service level is subpar at best. Compared to other all inclusive properties, such as Sonesta and Palladium with butler and "preferred" style amenities, this property pales. The butler was not attentive and didn't not encourage use of his service, nor did he explain at the start what those services included. We had to learn from other patrons, on our last day, that things like ironing our warbrobe and restaurant reservations were a standard butler amenity. Very importantly, there should be communication that checkout is required. Checkout is an inconvenience of the past, but if the property is going to have outdated policies, then guests need to know about it to plan their departure timing. We were delayed for over 30 minutes, and luckily our driver was able to wait for us, while we checked out. We had a $58 room charge that had to be paid by card swipe when it should be charged to the card on file. The card readed was not working so we eventually paid by cash which was a fiasco to get change made, and then after we were on our way to the airport, our credit card WAS charged the $58 also! So after all that, we were double charged. The purpose was never explained, but we had to present the magic "white ticket" to hand to the bellman so we could depart with our private driver, which has nothing to do with the hotel. This will leave a taste in my mouth that won't be forgotten. Lastly, in the Preferred lounge/office, the employees should speak and understand English perfectly, this is where the highest revenue guests go for issues and help. The communication and comprehension was unacceptable. I was disappointed beyond what I could ever have imagined.

Great place! Only one issue

Amazing place!! Definitely would recommend. Only issue i had was the restrooms outside of our room all had broken urinals, however, my wife said the women's bathrooms were great. It's really not bad, it was just rather funny to me, everything was so clean and orderly and basically perfect until you went into the men's bathrooms.
