Sadly, this 5★ resort doesn’t live up to its rating. Pros * Great variety of pools, including a baby pool, several swimming pools and water slides. * We never struggled to find sunbeds, even during busy periods. * Our Superior Lagoon Room was spacious enough for a family of four. However, the rooms are dated and in need of refurbishment. Our shower handle repeatedly fell off, and there were several signs of general wear and tear. Cons Unfortunately, this is where the hotel falls short of what you’d expect from a 5★ resort. * No branded alcoholic drinks are available. * All drinks, including cocktails, are served in paper cups. * Service is inconsistent. We often felt overlooked as English guests, with staff mainly speaking Turkish or Russian. On several occasions, tables that arrived after us were served first. Throughout our stay we were never once offered drinks at breakfast, lunch or dinner, so we ended up helping ourselves. * The dining experience is chaotic. You’re expected to find your own table, and at every meal it was difficult to find one that had been cleaned and reset. Cutlery, glasses and water were regularly missing, and we often had to collect them ourselves from other tables. * The buffet is poorly managed. Plates and bowls frequently ran out and weren’t replenished quickly, leaving guests waiting. * The food was the biggest disappointment. Much of it was bland, fries were often soggy, and meat was dry and overcooked. The best options were the dishes cooked fresh to order, such as pizza, pasta and omelettes. * Cleanliness around the pool areas isn’t what you’d expect from a 5★ hotel. There were dirty areas, rust, exposed holes where pipes appeared to have been, and a general lack of maintenance. Our little girls and boy frequently caught their toes on the plastic grates around the pools. * Housekeeping was disappointing. Fresh towels and toilet roll were left in the room, but the floors were never swept, and used mugs and glasses were often not replaced when dirty. Overall, this resort has the potential to be excellent, but in its current condition it feels much closer to a 3★ hotel than a 5★ one. The pool facilities are its strongest feature, but the food, housekeeping and overall level of service fall well below expectations. I don’t blame the staff themselves; this feels like a management issue, with too few staff and little attention paid to guest experience. One final point worth mentioning: every day there was a member of staff walking around the pool asking guests to leave reviews while they were still staying at the hotel. Make of that what you will when reading the overwhelmingly positive reviews.
