We had seven wonderful nights at the Side Star Elegance Hotel on an All Inclusive + basis. The food was excellent as was the service from friendly staff. The room was very comfortable and with all amenities. We would highly recommend this hotel and we hope to return there.

Enjoyable, good value for money

Just returned from Side, Turkey where we stayed at Side Star Elegance for one week. (+) The hotel is indeed elegant without ostentation like some in Turkiye. (+) All public spaces and rooms kept spotlessly clean. (+) The sea view (if you book it) is lovely. Had a room on the 5th floor so nothing impeding the view, and also helped as no noise reached us from below. (+) Mini bar replenished daily, very generously. (+) Beach towels provided in a bag at arrival which you can use throughout your stay and can exchange for clean ones as needed. Also, I found out after a couple days, there's a choice of pillows should you have special requirements. There are I think, five options available. I asked at the Customer service office and they exchanged my hard pillow with a soft one in a timely manner. Thank you, Customer Service! (+) Safe in the room at no extra charge. (+) Toiletries provided. (+) Internet is excellent throughout the hotel, in the rooms, on the terraces and at the beach. All the time. Everywhere. (+) Free sunbeds and umbrellas at the beach. The beach is very clean, staff check for/remove trash periodically. Sea water clear and warm, calm with almost no waves, even in September, shallow for a long stretch (which was what I wanted). (+) Restaurant offered very good varied food, nicely displayed, options for diet and vegetarians also available. We had two themed evenings in the Main Restaurant during our stay, Italian evening and Turkish evening. We also had one a-la-carte experience we chose Italian, and loved it! (+) Various bars and snack bars in the resort, but we didn't actually feel hungry between meals so we only had some cocktails here and there. (+) By all means, try the Turkish coffee. Best ever! (+) Staff is very friendly and accommodating. English is spoken at the Reception and Customer Service. Not so much by the rest of the staff. Most employees speak German and/or Russian as foreign languages. (-) I did not like the bathroom concept in the room. There are two (small) separate cubicles, one for the toilet and one for the shower. The washbasin and a toiletry stand are in the actual room! (-) As the hotel is on a hillside, we had to either walk down a lot of steps or take two elevators and a cable car to get to the beach. At our age, we used the elevators but it still took a little while to get to the beach. (-) The hotel has several buildings/areas so it might be confusing to orient yourself and find what you are looking for, for a day or two. We got lost a couple times. (-) It sometimes is not easy to find a sunbed at the pools, some tourists sort of "reserve" sunbeds by placing their towels on them and then walking away, sometimes for hours. The pool water was ice-cold (might be because it was September?) so we didn't really use the pools. (-) At the beach, what I didn't quite enjoy was the fact that the umbrellas and sunbeds are placed rather close together. I would have preferred more room between us and the other people. All in all, I consider it a very pleasant stay, and good value for money. We would go again! Last but not least, tipping. It is a national thing in Turkey. From the transfer drivers to guides, to chambermaids, to waiters. Something that some tourists from Western countries seem oblivious to. It is not obligatory but it is appreciated. We were happy to tip as they all work really hard and do deserve the extra.
