There were many pros to this hotel and some cons. Travelled with 4 years olds for reference. The place was perfect for my children. Big pool and little pool as expected. Yes it was cold getting in but one of those that is fine after a few minutes of moving. The larger pool varied in depth from 1m20 to 1m40. You can’t take lilos in only donut style rings of a max of 60cm. There were some mini children lilos, probably about 50cm in length scattered about. There was a disabled access to the pool available and some sun beds reserved for less abled people too. You can’t eat around the pool or at your sunbed which is a good thing because those that did, the birds (pigeons / seagulls) came. Absolute pro was the fact people couldn’t smoke around the pool. There was a smoking area though which is fair. The biggest con was, despite signs saying not to reserve sunbeds, people did. They were there at 7am and one family reserved 6, didn’t show until gone 2pm and completely blocked a walk way with a paddling pool. Some poor family had to keep walking round a different way to get to their sunbeds. You can’t use water guns / pistols in the large pool, only the children’s pool. Just to add, there are plenty of parasols but aren’t 100% at blocking the sun out for those looking to avoid the sun completely. The inflatable obstacle bouncy castle was the best. The splash park essentially had 3 slides for their age. There were 2 x further slides which you have to be taller for. I never saw which height though. Some things to note with the splash park, the lifeguard didn’t allow a child to wear a T-shirt despite the mum stating it was to keep him covered to prevent sunburn. No sunglasses whatsoever so if you wear prescription sunglasses and are blind without them, it’s still a no. But we saw a few not get asked to remove them.. The waterpark has deck chairs and set session times you can attend. It seemed to be quieter towards the end of the day. Really clean, non slip surface and good lifeguards. Soft play was great and a really good safe system in place. Just be mindful that sometimes there are school trips and parties so you may wish to return at a later time. The staff there were all really friendly. The Upside House my children loved and visited on a daily basis. The 3D short films and shooting games were great. My husband and I love shooting games so we were in our element. Our children did two of them and one we didn’t let them as it was a zombie one. They run all on a regular basis and again, really friendly staff. We did do the golf which we paid extra for, which was 15€ each, but could return as often as we wanted. One side it was basic and the other side was the more fun one. The price also included a lazer game where you essentially shouldn’t set the lasers off. It did appear to have the possibility of different levels but it was set at one level and the woman just quite abruptly said, go in, don’t set the lazer off, press the button and come back. I think she must have had a bad day! All the staff at the park / Upside Down House were really friendly. The hotel itself was clean. So so clean -an absolute credit. Reception staff were friendly and apologetic when a maid mistakenly took an item of mine. I did have to keep chasing about whether I was going to get it back and I never heard anything. There was no plan of a resolution if they were never going to be able to return my missing item though. I had read about the lift issues from previous reviews which in theory is true, but it wasn’t horrific. There were only 3 working lifts and yes we had to wait on many occasions but to me it’s not the end of the world. I’m not sure how wide it is when the doors are open but those with double prams/pushchairs, it is worth checking if it will fit in the lift! The food I always find really personal to people. Some people say it’s great, some say awful. I think there was a large variety and choice on offer. They had their obligatory pasta, fries and some kind of nuggets or something to that variety, but we avoided this. The vegetarian selection was a bit samey. They had their fresh cooking stations, but never ate anything from there as they used the same pan to cook the meat/fish in which I can’t eat. They had gluten free options and dairy free milk available. The food was labelled including allergens. The chefs were all lovely and helpful. There is local lager on tap as well as sangria, red, white or rose wine. There was a hot drinks station as well as carbonated drinks and one for water, orange juice, mixed fruit juice or pineapple juice. There was a token system for drinks outside of the restaurant which was fine. We had a small family room with just a Juliet balcony. Space was tight, particularly for wardrobe space so one of us had to keep clothes in the suitcase for the 2 week stay. We did consider getting the 2 bedroom but changed our minds. So we knew this would have been a possibility. There was a large sofa bed for my two children to share, and plentiful space wise. But something to bear in mind if you have maybe 2 siblings unwilling to share. The twin beds were large. We had a large shower and no bath. Just to note, the sofa bed had the metal on show so we had to cover it up to lessen the severity of bruises getting in and out. There’s a small fridge and free safe. There’s a hdmi port for the tv. Channels wise, a decent variety of Spanish channels (of course and I personally enjoyed watching), bbc, itv, CBeebies and maybe a channel which showed films in English. The children’s clubs were amazing. An absolute massive shout out to the animation team. They were absolutely brilliant with my children and they loved going. Such a variety of things to do every day. Really talented too. We didn’t attend many of the evening stuff due to tired children however carnival night was the best! I wish I wrote a name down for one of the team who really stood out -she was lovely. As well as the guy that could do lots of skilled things like the spinning ball on the finger. The beach was a short walk away, we didn’t bother hiring a cabana or the sunbeds and parasols. I think the cabana was 30$ and the sunbeds x 2 plus parasol was €20. Cons ‘’””””” There was a few days where someone was smoking marijuana -awful for a family hotel. It stopped, so I’m presuming the hotel sorted this but then towards the end of our trip, someone was smoking it again. Really disappointing. Another downside was the smoking by the entrance as my children wanted to see the turtles and feed the fish but the cigarette smoke was too much. But I understand the need to offer this for guests. With regards to some tips: The floor around the pool can be very slippery so just a case of being mindful. We stayed in a family room without a balcony, only a Juliet balcony so we took an airer with us which is a must. And a line to hang a couple of bits on. I can see why people would complain about the noise at night, and yes I could hear it if I woke but we had a white noise machine which really helped drown the noise out. So definitely take something like that. If you have children that are 3 years old and small, they might need a step for the toilet in the bathroom, and 3-5 year olds (unless tall) will need a step for the sink. We don’t know if we would return due to the marijuana smoking which is a shame as the hotel had so many pros to it. But for various reasons, it’s something I can’t let my family be exposed to. It was otherwise well worth the money.
