Solymar Beach Resort

This Hotel is nothing as advertised in the photos. Though it is beachfront the water is imposible to enter as it is so rough with many huge rocks that you wont see making it VERY dangerous even for the experienced swimmer. We stayed a week and the flag was understandably always red so we chose to walk to Playa Delfines only a ten minute walk witch is less rough and cleaner. The food here is terrible we chose to go into the markets for dinners like Parque de las Palapas or lunch at Mercado 23 just a 20 min A1 Bus ride away. There you will find local food at a non tourist price and is way cheaper than eating at the overpriced bars and restaurants in downtown Cancun. The bus is 1 US dollar and runs often I recommend you pay in Mex pesos (17 Mex) so you don’t loose on the conversion if you are not American that is. Just a 5 min walk away there is a sort of Mini Mart that offers drinks (water , beer) and has a Chicken takeout inside that is great along with a Subway sandwich shop. It also has an ATM so there is no need to carry large sums of money around, just simply take out as you need it. Though the hotel offers All inclusive we stayed there through Air BNB and decided not to eat there as it runs you about 40-45 American per day per person. Just buy snacks and bring it back to your room. The place is close to the airport and though you will be offered a return shuttle from the airport vendors STAY AWAY! opt for a one way and take an Uber back the day you depart, much cheaper. You can walk off the airport property when you arrive and take an Uber as well. The hotel has no working elevators as it is outdated so you will be walking up and down the stairs many times, not suitable for older people. This hotel/ Air BNB is only for good for couples that just want to see Cancun and not pay to much.

The worst hotel I've ever seen...Disgusting food and really small choice (breakfast the same things everyday)so definitely don't get all inclusive (they're not even using salt or pepper...)because it's not worth it at all. We needed to buy coffee, tea and normal juices because their juices had mostly water which is ridiculous. Hotel staff don't speak English at all, a little bit on the reception, but only during day shift...Waitress in the hotel restaurant behave like they're works for free. Just standing and doing nothing (bring your own cups because sometimes you can wait ages for clean one).Rooms with crickets 😡 best option is to get pillows from house because dogs in Europe sleeps on better ones than you have to over there lol. Housekeepers coming into your room even when you put DND which is really awful and disappointing. But don't complain to the hotel manager because she is so rude and will be angry on you because you are complain about that 🤣We've lost $150 which was lying on the table with DND on the door and there was no consequences to housekeeper when she was catch on CCTV. No even apology from hotel manager 😒 OMG hard subject really....Lift not working at all so you need to carry your baggage upstairs quite huge stairs so good luck 😉There is no entertainment at all and if you will go with your childrens it's really nothing for them either, other than sand and a pool.One positive thing is the public beach next to the hotel other than that NOTHING ELSE. So don't spend your money because it's not worthy. In Europe hostels are better than this hotel so you can imagine...
