Our stay at Sophia Luxury Suites was everything we hoped for and more. We stayed in the Efhari Exclusive Suite, and while it may be a biased opinion, I truly think it's the best suite on the property. Perched high above the caldera in Imerovigli, the views are simply breathtaking, and there are minimal steps to reach your room. From the private terrace, we had panoramic views of the Aegean Sea, Skaros Rock, and the famous Santorini sunsets. It truly felt like our own little sanctuary and was the perfect place to celebrate our 10-year anniversary. The private plunge pool was one of our favorite features. It was the perfect temperature for relaxing and taking in the incredible scenery, and we loved the outdoor seating area, where we enjoyed breakfast every morning overlooking the caldera. The terrace is private for your use, though it's open to the surrounding landscape to preserve the unobstructed views that make Santorini so special. Breakfast was one of our favorite parts of each day. There were three different menu options that could be ordered easily through the hotel's app, and they were more than happy to accommodate substitutions. The app also made it convenient to order room service, including cocktails and wine, which was a nice touch after a day of exploring. The only hiccup during our stay was that the power was out throughout the village until about 1:00 p.m. on our first morning. This was completely outside the hotel's control, but it did mean no coffee to start the day—a minor disappointment, but certainly not something the hotel could have prevented. A special thank you to Vera, the hotel manager, who greeted us upon arrival and checked in with us throughout our stay to make sure we had everything we needed. Her hospitality made us feel genuinely cared for. I've seen some reviews mentioning that the property shows signs of wear, but I think it's important to set the right expectations. You're literally staying on the side of a cliff in Santorini, exposed to the elements year-round. Yes, there are a few worn spots and the occasional cracked tile, but to us, that only added to the authenticity and charm of the experience. We weren't looking for a cookie-cutter luxury resort—we wanted to experience Santorini, and this was exactly that. Housekeeping was attentive and thorough; our suite was always spotless, and we truly couldn't have imagined staying anywhere else. If I could have packed up my dogs and lived there forever, I probably would have. We can't wait to return.
