WE GOT ROBBED!!!

Our family stayed at Story Lake in Kissimmee, Florida in November 2025, and what was supposed to be our children’s first Disney vacation turned into one of the most violating experiences we’ve ever gone through. What’s most upsetting is that after the incident, we discovered that the previous renters had also been robbed just days before our arrival. Yet we were never warned. On the first day of our stay, the AC units were not working, requiring maintenance workers to enter the home. A few days later, the washing machine also stopped working, and more workers were sent into the property. Throughout our stay, we made sure every door — especially the back slider — was locked every single night. To our knowledge, it was secure. Despite that, the home was broken into while my family was sleeping inside. My parents and in-laws were sleeping downstairs only feet away from where our belongings were stolen, while my children slept upstairs with me. Among the stolen items was my $1,000 camera — the camera that held irreplaceable memories from my son’s first trip to Disney. Those photos and videos are gone forever. What made this situation even worse was the complete lack of accountability, urgency, or compassion from the Airbnb host afterward. There was no genuine apology, no offer to help, no concern for our safety, and no attempt to make things right. We were simply told to “enjoy the rest of your stay.” Enjoy the rest of our stay? After our family had just been violated in the middle of the night? Nearly six months later, we are still left without answers, without our stolen belongings, and without the memories that can never be recreated. Based on the repeated incidents in this property/development and the way this situation was handled, our family is now under the strong impression that this may have been an inside job. I’m writing this because the online photos look beautiful, and families deserve to know the truth before booking. No vacation rental is worth risking your family’s safety, peace of mind, or memories. I would strongly urge families traveling with children to think carefully before staying here.

Wonderful resort. Without resort fees. Fairly new so most places are in good shape. Deconova Vacation managed properties are the most responsive. Not all homeowners are.

We stayed on the complex for nearly three weeks , I won't review the house we stayed in , as each will be different. There are good points and bad, Good points : It's only six miles to Disney and takes about 15 minutes , great for getting there early or when you leave late and need to return home quickly. Plenty of parking on the complex. You are close to loads of shopping , Walmart , Ross , Nike , Disney Outlets , Publix. There is even a Target you can walk to and a Burger King and a Seven Eleven which has all the basics. Bad points ; as mentioned earlier the security is almost none existent. You are supposed to only to be able to to enter the complex by showing a QR code at the barrier. On the entrance near the Burger king entrance it nearly always failed to work first time, resulting in a car queue building up. When the gate finally opened , everyone tailgated the car in front , sometimes up to six cars went through on one opening. I even seen cars go through via the exit , at no point did anyone ever get stopped , even though it was supposed to be covered by CCTV. We went to the leisure complex twice , the first shortly after we arrived in the early afternoon , it was very busy and the was a long queue for drinks , we finally got served after twenty minutes and found the prices some of the highest on our holiday, something like 13 dollars for a beer inc 18% service charge and tax. The walk took about 15 minutes to get there and we had to go over some wooden footbridges which seemed to about to fall down with loose wooden panels. We found out that there was free transportation so we booked the coach back to the house which arrived promptly. The second time we went we got there just after opening and managed to get decent sunbeds for everyone , we were questioned if we had brought any food or drink which is banned, We managed to get tubs on the lazy river which was good , but there were no children's tubs or family double tubs provided so the little ones needs to swim, The two pools at that time were good. Unfortunately one of the dressing room blocks was closed and the other had flooded toilets , so there was no where to change. At no time did I see a lifeguard. My overall thoughts was it was an average complex ,with lots of faults but we enjoyed our holiday because the house was so nice.

Id like to share an experience I had in March 2026 with this company StoreyVacationHomes Everything was fine until we hired the cleaning service offered by the host and paid him directly via Airbnb payment request. Besides the awful cleaning, the people who entered robbed our cash we had hidden in our suitcases and backpacks. Security camera footage showed the team was only there for 1.5 hours, clearly demonstrating their interest in the property was something else, as its impossible to clean a 6 bed/5bath house in less than 2 hours. We had to file a police report, and the worst part is that neither the host nor anyone from his team came forward to resolve the situation.DO NOT book with them in Airbnb (Hosts are Andre, Flavia or Isabella)

Perfect first night to nightmare the second night.

The location, suite and resort were wonderful our first night. Unfortunately on the second night, the suite next door, owned by the same owner as the one we were in, was rented to very young adults who smoked and partied until 3 am The smell and noise permeated into our suite. At one point the police were called as one person was being choked and dragged outside in the parking lot. 5 police cruisers and security ended up arriving. Unfortunately this did not end the situation. We were there with 3 young children and felt very unsafe. We were told the owner was aware of the situation and did nothing.
