Good Food & drink very good, lots of selection including freshly cooked food. Hotel entertainment has been excellent, very entertaining and funny, very talented friendly staff, probably the best hotel entertainment staff I have experienced. Hotel is very nice and clean, rooms cleaned daily, fresh pop and water put into the mini fridge in the rooms. Fresh towels, made beds. Location close to Side, the Roman ruins village, worth a visit, stunning place, and close to shopping malls but will need a taxi. Many Turks are friendly and accommodating. Very interested in where you are from. 0k Room was ok, not great amount of privacy for toilets or shower, if sharing with teenagers. Poor view from our room and apparently it was an upgrade, however we were hardly in the room apart from washing and sleeping. English in this area is not widely spoken as in other areas in Turkey, they do understand so far, mainly they speak german, google translate worked well. I was asked to play bingo, €20 a ticket, prizes were advertised as jet ski trips, boat trips etc, I won 😂 all the winners got a 30-minute back massage. This happened again with tombola. The hotels power kept cutting off, it was only for a few minutes but frequent. Weather We went in late May, it was warm, but unsettled, lots of cloud cover, and torrential rain for 2 days, we only got 3 days sun out of 6, go in July or August to guarantee the sun, however we did catch a tan. Some parts of Turkey are rough, piles of rubbish, and bad smells, poorly maintained roads and footpaths, construction waste piled up, overgrown foliage, down beat apartments, like scenes from Walking Dead, very 2nd world, I just wasn’t expecting it in tourist areas in a rich country like Turkey, i don’t recall seeing this as bad on previous visits. Confusing timings with restaurants, staff saying they’re closed when times are clearly advertised stating that there are open, this became frustrating. bar staff seem moody and unfriendly, not wanting to be there. The feeling I got, service with a smile would go a long way despite the language barrier. You almost feel you have put them out asking for a drink. This wasn’t all of them, but it was noticeable with tourists. A guy at the reception tried getting a backhand tip for a room upgrade he had given me, without me asking on my arrival. I thanked him; it was a standard room with a poor view, at the back of the hotel, the room I had already probably been allocated . Be careful. My interaction with this guy later in the holiday, I found him very rude. The games room is not free; 30 minutes on the pool table is €8. I did not like that; why it is not within the hotel facilities I don’t know. All I have been to have been. Turkey is a stunning country in the right places: mountains, greenery, stunning coasts. It is a shame it is not up-kept. The days are gone that Turkey is cheap, or even reasonable. Turkey is not cheap, more like London prices in the tourist areas, if not higher. They want every last penny and a pint of blood. Replica clothes are cheap and some are very good quality, however €16 for two ice creams, very nice mind but jeez. This is my third trip to Turkey, each time I come it becomes more expensive. This will kill the tourist industry here eventually, unless you don’t mind paying top money for items you don’t need under pressure, or extortionate prices for things you do need. The greedy culture and pressure they put you under, or not taking no for an answer and always upselling does get overwhelming. I was fed up by the end of my holiday. they certainly act desperate, i hope they are not. I am well travelled worldwide due to work and holidays in Europe. Turkey is like an upgrade version of a Middle Eastern country, it has that feel you are in a 2nd world country, then again I believe it is, they are blessed with nice coasts, scenery and nice hotels. Not particularly my thing when there are other beautiful countries to visit. We have always had a great time here though, you are certainly more welcomed than you are going to Spain, you get more for your hotel etc. I would not let my negative points deter you from coming, they are many, many positives too, it is an excellent experience. Just be aware of the cultural differences. I will not return to Turkey, only due to the costs and the desperation in selling their goods, and the anxiety of feeling scammed, you agree a price but add on.
