The Colony Club Inn & Suites

From the outside it all looks lovely but the room we had did not match the description and was tired and not as clean as it should have been. We had a good stay and the staff are lovely but felt a bit disappointed. Limited toiletries (not as listed) no drawer or shelf space so lived out of our suitcases, room had a huge wardrobe but only 4 hangers, kitchenette was a fridge, microwave and kettle (not as described) even had to ask for cups to make tea, where were the promised utensils etc!! 2 small towels and a bath mat but shower leaked so that got soaked and only one hook to hand towels to dry, again not practical. Overlooked a nice courtyard but staff used the seating more than the guests! One night about 4am someone tried to get into our room, got up to see what was happening and saw the overnight reception guy trying to let a drunk couple into obviously the wrong room, they ended up next door. We saw inside a junior suite as we passed the door and it looked nicer and I’m sure if we’d paid more our room would have been better but it wasn’t as described and that was the biggest disappointment. Just want to mention the lovely lady that does breakfast, she was smiley every day and helpful and managed it all on her own, she is a credit to the team. Location is good if you don’t mind walking and it is in a safe residential area.

This is an older hotel, which provides for some lovely gardens. The pool area is clean and quiet. A lovely lady provides a breakfast bar poolside. The welcome drink was a nice touch. My room wasn't great. It had a strong smell of bleach all night. The locks on my door were hard to operate and you were locked in unless you had a key to get out. My roomate found this out the hard way. You can't brush your teeth from the tap water, but bottled water is provided. There isn't anywhere to really walk to. The area is very run down and didn't feel safe for a single woman to walk. Beds were comfortable and the fridge was large, so was the TV.

Good Local facility in a Good location. Down the Road from Bay Street. Easy to Fish Fry/Arawak Beach& Sanders Beach. Local bus to travel around. Friendly Staff and good accommodations for older facility. I felt SAFE with Security & Locked entrance. They did serve breakfast however I did not enjoy this time. I thought the site indicated they had a Shuttle service but they did not. They will just request a Cab like every other hotel.

After booking the hotel sent me a friendly message, also mentioning the possibility of an airport transfer for a certain price. On arrival nobody was around, so I called the driver, whose number I had been given, and he told me that he had never heard about this transfer. So we took a regular taxi. During our whole stay the different hotel staff at reception were not particularly friendly and helpful. A young man showed us our room on an upper floor, but he wouldn't bother to help us with the suitcases. The room itself was not too bad, although there was only one bedlamp for two beds. Shower functioned well, but not the WiFi, definitely not in the room. There was a swimming pool, which we never used. All in all the inn's public areas didn't seem very clean. We also never had breakfast, but once we went for the free cocktail (a rum punch) between 6-9pm with loud music around the swimming pool. No lunch or dinner was offered here, but the fun Fish-Fry restaurant village was only about 1200m away. We also walked from the accommodation into the town center, which took mus about half an hour.

There is a reason this place is cheap and cheerful. The rooms promise things that simply are not there. We booked a room with kitchenette iron and microwave none existed. The two double/king bed was a creaky double and creakier single. The hairdryer was cracked and not working. There were no coat hangers or cups in the room. Although we asked on arrival about a broken tv it was not repaired until we asked again the following day. The maid service left the floor not just wet but soaking, my partner slipped on entering the room and the towel I used to mop the floor then had to be replaced as if was too wet to use again. The bathroom tap was hanging off and had to be pushed hard to turn on and off. The pool had a light fall out and sink to the floor with the electrical wire hanging from the side, there was urgency to sort this which was left for the last two days of my trip. Many of the staff are unhelpful and just grunt when you smile or greet them with a good morning. Sean and William are very friendly and helpful and give the place a real holiday feel. They supply free cocktails and a few snacks in the evenings, these help but is the only small part of friendly you are likely to find. The Manager, I believe to be a female, replies to any complaints or enquiries with a ‘come by in the morning to get it sorted’ this is on permanent repeat! No solutions to any issues until it’s time for you to leave taking the problem away until the next guest arrives. Avoid the place. I took videos to show the poor quality not knowing I wouldn’t be able to show them but believe me, it’s below basic and they just do not care!
