It is a bit out of the way, surrounded by rice paddy fields, but this is part of the charm. No noise from beach clubs, traffic, mopeds, dogs or cockerels! It is a couple of minutes from the beach, and Pererenan, Canggu, Echo Beach & Old Man's can be reached by walking east along the beach. There are also short cuts through the paddy fields on scooter paths, a 10 minute stroll taking you through to Pererenan Road, which is the most westerly, less busy & commercial street, with a good selection of cafes & small restaurants. You will find good Balinese massage spas here too- Our 7 day stay was wonderful - we had a ground floor 1 bedroom apartment, it was very clean & modern- we will definitely be back. Please note there is no lift to the upper stories. We ate in most nights....That said, the Italian chef seemed to be missing, but the food was ok. The menu is limited, adding sautéed vegetables would be good! All the staff were so helpful & gracious. The local drivers they arranged for us were a little more expensive than cabs, but their clean, well maintained 6 seater vehicles with functioning air conditioners were a blessing in the heat during the drives in the Bali traffic- we felt happy leaving our luggage with these drivers whilst out on day tours. Although it is only about 10km out from the main town of Denpasar, it is a 50 minute trip on a Sunday. We were warned by different drivers that the trip to the airport on a Monday at 3 pm can take 3 and up to 6 hours... Tour groups don't seem to mind picking you up out in the rice paddys- I found contacting companies through WhatsApp got the best results.
