My Best Friend and I stayed at the Magnolia Resort in July 2025. We chose this hotel because we wanted to stay somewhere peaceful, picturesque and walking distance from the beach and this hotel did not disappoint! The breakfast choice was limited but nevertheless lovely and the breakfast area had breath taking views of the mountains, which can be seen across the island. The pool area was immaculate with comfortable sun loungers, a nice shaded area and good drinks choice at the bar. The rooms were clean and had a beautiful Greek rustic charm to them, there was more than enough space in the room for two people, lots of room for clothes. The bathroom was a good size with a good strength of shower. Also we were on the ground floor and it had a lovely terrace. I was also impressed by the shutters, along side the mesh screen and patio doors making it safer and kept the bugs out! The terrace was a good size, with space to sit. Also no nigh time entertainment, so never noisy! There were very few downsides, only criticisms: you had to use the same pool towel all week, if you wanted to change it, there was a €5 charge each time, in the same vein the room towels were only changed every 3 days and the bath towels and towels for your hair were too small. Also no hand towel was provided and there was no where to put your bath towel when showering, a hook maybe on the back of the bathroom door would be helpful. Just another note, it would be nice if they provided a tissue box in the room. In terms of beach they have a sand and shingle beach, we went on both but our preference was the sandy one, as the sea was easier to access without the slippery pebbles, the sunbeds were dearer at €15 for 2 sunbeds, an umbrella and a small table, but were well worth it! The restaurants are along the beachfront with beautiful views, most of the food is authentically Greek and very fresh, I would recommend the Kefalonian Meat Pie, specific to the island! There are very few shops, there is a bakery and supermarket close by, but if you like more gift shops, I would recommend Argostoli the capital city if you want more to do, the only trouble is there is only one bus in the morning and one in the afternoon, so if you miss it, it can mean a very expensive taxi back to the hotel, so we went on a trip with our travel operator Tui that took us there, but many guests had cars, so that might be an idea if you want to experience other parts of the island. Speaking of trips, we also did an island trip including Fiskardo, Assos, Myrtos Beach, which I would recommend, it's great way to see the real gems of Kefalonia which hold so much history and beauty! All in all it was the perfect resort for anyone wanting a traditional beach holiday but away from the madness of the strip.
