Amazing villa, delicious food and great service

31 May 2025
Amazing villa, delicious food and great service. Natasha and Melvin helped make my proposal a memorable one, while Naina, Ajanee and Ronnie went the extra mile to make our stay more special. We will definitely stay again when visiting Mauritius.

Perfect location for our Anniversary.

31 May 2025
This was a fantastic choice for our 35th Wedding Anniversary. Nothing was too much trouble for the friendly, polite and attentive staff. They constantly went above and beyond. From the initial greeting upon arrival until the fond farewell a week later, all went seamlessly. The lobster at the restaurant, 'On The Rocks' was the best I ever tasted in my (many) years on this planet. The food in the other restaurants on site was also well above par, and no nouvelle-cuisine here - we had ample food, as our now expanded waistlines will bear witness. The settings of the pools, bars, and restaurants right up to the shoreline made for perfect views too. Loads to do, be it water sports or wine and rum tastings. For the less energetic, (ie us) beautiful scenery and pools with ample loungers and the gardens to wander in were exceptional. Rooms and bathrooms were kept spotless. Not one negative thing to say about this trip, we totally loved it - also many thanks for the several nice touches in regard to our anniversary day, they were very much appreciated.

"Above and beyond"

31 May 2025
My family and I , spent 2 weeks at the resort. We have stayed at the Oberoi Grand in Kolkata and some amazing hotels across the world. We were unsure what to expect and we were looking for a peaceful, luxurious , hotel with a beach and excellent food. We are used to staying at 5* hotels with excellent service. It was our diamond wedding anniversary and also our joint 75th birthday year, so we wanted luxury and relaxation rather then usual busy, safari/expedition trips we take . We were not disappointed. We had booked two villas , a luxury pool vllla for my wife and I , a garden view villa for our daughter. On our arrival, my daughter was upgraded to a pool villa , close to ours which had a great sea view and both were very close to the beach It takes a couple of days to get into the rythym of a place but from the moment we arrived we experienced the most amazing , warm, personal service we were hoping for. Nothing is perfect but whatever the issue and there were some minor issues , it was it was always overcome by the fantastic staff we got to know over the 2 weeks who seemed to go out of their way to provide a quality service. We really felt special ! The villas are very comfortable and well furnished with everything you need, including a Nespresso machine , plenty of space and quality bath items. One issue ...a socket by the bedside table would be great !! Being wildlife lovers we enjoyed the lovely birdlife that visited our villa everyday and the amazing birdsong that in the mornings and evenings...see photos !! The dining was very good with two places to lunch or dine , with a varied selection of dishes. The menu changes mid week. The breakfast are very varied and generous with quality items. The pastries are excellent ,the bread is fantastic and there are some outstanding dishes on the main restaurant menu. We met the chefs and they made us some great dishes which we asked for , over the 2 weeks . We love food and are used to eating at the best restaurants across the world and in the UK . We can say we really enjoyed the dishes we had. Excellent cooking !! The main bar , overlooks the sea and the cocktails are very good value. A perfect place to watch the amazing sunsets. There is excellent live music from 7pm onwards but we thought the music should start at 6pm when more people could enjoy it. The beach is very pleasant and we were lucky with excellent weather over the 2 weeks. The sea , warm and crystal clear and you can see fish very close to the shoreline. But you do need water shoes, as it is rocky in places. We went whale watching on the hotel's large speedboat and were lucky to see many whales, the sea is rough with strong currents out in the ocean, but it was a wonderful experience. Shame that many other cowboy boat operators and stupid and mindless tourists ignore the Mauritian govt's regulations which prohibit idiots swimming with the whales. We also enjoyed 2 days out, to the south and north of the Island, in the hotel's BMW i7 driven by the amazing Raj. Apart from driving around in luxury.... everyone looks at this car !!!!.... Raj provides an excellent commentary on the island's history , scenery and highlights and it is good to learn about Mauritian culture and life on the island...we absolutely loved these trips. He really is amazing ! The Oberoi is a lovely , timeless , traditional place to stay, unlike other resorts on island. We dined at the Lux Grandbaie but it could have been anywhere in the world, soul-less, impersonal and overcrowded. The staff really make the Oberoi a special place to stay and make you feel special. We had an absolutely wonderful stay ,thanks to the house-keeping staff, the staff who worked in the food and beverage areas and on the beach, the chefs, the concierge service, reception staff and those who kept the grounds safe and immaculate. We want to mention some of those staff but others also contributed to making our stay very special and memorable. So... a very big THANK you to ,Akshay, Sarah ,Raj, Kate ,Shaan, Ragini, Hari, Aina,Prakash ,Vasudhe, Justin ,Geishav ,Deepak ,Rashmi , Oomah, Ritika, Antish and Divesh. But we would like to especially acknowledge the wonderful Prashant, food and beverage manager, who really made our stay very very special and memorable, with his warmth , generosity and excellent service. The general manager , Aditya Pandey should rightly be very proud of his staff ,and the ethos and quality of service from the staff and we hope he will pass on our comments to those staff we have mentioned but to all the other staff as well.

Exceptional in Every Way

31 May 2025
My husband and I recently returned from our second visit to Oberoi Beach Resort, Mauritius; having spent 10 wonderful days there last year we immediately re-booked, this time for two full weeks. Some would say that it’s often inadvisable to try to recreate the magic of a wonderful experience but, in the case of this fantastic resort, there were no such concerns. From the moment we arrived until the time of our departure, we were treated like family or old friends by the wonderfully warm and attentive staff, some of whom we remembered from last year’s visit. Kareem and Natacha welcomed us on our arrival with cool towels and a virgin Mohito, after which Natacha guided us to our beautiful pool villa (sincere thanks to the management for the allocation of this breathtaking surprise) whilst the ever-smiling Adarsh delivered our luggage to our villa. The villa, with its spotless, spacious and extremely comfortable accommodation, raised outdoor dining pavilion and fabulous pool with sunbeds and parasol, became our chosen backdrop for our renewal of vows (more of this later). Last year we met some absolutely wonderful people at the Oberoi and so we were delighted to see some of those faces again; Shaan, Roshan & Prashant at the main restaurant, Ralph at the Bar and Solomon at On The Rocks all welcomed us back and continued with the amazing service we became accustomed to last year. A highlight was being greeted with such warmth by Amanda (Guest Services) at breakfast. All of these wonderful people mentioned above managed, yet again, to take our breath away with their genuine hospitality and friendship. Once again, the food at all of the restaurants was superb, from the Ricotta and Lemon pancakes at breakfast and the delicious Ombrine baked in clay for dinner at the main restaurant, the Prawn Tacos and (very large) burger for lunch at On The Rocks, delicious bar snacks, fruit kebabs and ice cream on the beach, the amazing steaks and freshly caught seafood for dinner at On The Rocks, the delicious menu served in the Gunpowder room and the Herb Trail; we seriously could not fault anything. It was all utterly superb. During our stay we decided to renew our wedding vows; having been together for 10 years in February and, being as we were in our own personal paradise, we thought this would be a good time. Our lovely Amanda and Kate from Guest services met with us to discuss our wishes to have a very small and private ceremony in the garden of our beautiful villa, and we were absolutely thrilled with the arrangements. We had a truly memorable afternoon, all captured by Jean Jacques, the photographer and overseen by Amanda and Kate. We also had a beautiful chocolate ganache cake and a bottle of bubbles to complete the event. I must also take this opportunity to thank Ragina (Housekeeping) for the beautiful room decorations, both in the morning and at turndown. Just beautiful. One of our favourite spots was on the main beach in front of the main restaurant and the lovely Sarah would always make up our sunbeds and deliver delicious snacks and fresh water & towels to keep us comfortable. Sarah was such a lovely, hardworking, friendly and helpful young woman. She clearly took great pride in keeping everything in order. A mention must also go to Hope who was always pleasant and helpful. Seriously, I could write a book about how wonderful this hotel and its staff are – I’ve had to re-write and abridge this review several times because I want to ensure all the fantastic people who contributed to our most perfect holiday were mentioned and recognised. I have already made mention of a few above, but, for the purpose of brevity, I will list below other team members who we fortunate enough to meet. Shoab, Dhanish & Davish (Housekeeping) Danav, Amal, Aina, Ayusha, Justin, Aum, Yash and Aditya (Main Restaurant), Oomar, Mevin, Vasudha & Jaiswul (On The Rocks) Jyoti, Rabin, (Beach and Bar) Naveen (Gunpowder Room) Samantha (Spa)… best Indian Head massage – Ever! Special mentions MUST go to Akshay for his wonderful kindness and humour, Rikita also for her humour and beautiful smile, Prashant for taking a lovely photo of John and I after our vows, Solomon for his excellent service and big smile, Chef Singh for his dedication to his trade, his desire to create fantastic dishes (which he surely does) and his friendship, lovely Amanda for her incredible hospitality and, of course, our dear friend Shaan who, without doubt, constantly went above and beyond all expectations to look after us during our stay. What would we do without him? And finally, John and I would like to thank the General Manager, Mr Vikram Pandy, for overseeing this incredible resort and for his kind interactions with us during our stay. Our second visit has confirmed to us that Oberoi Beach Resort, Mauritius, deserves every one of its five stars. We look forward to our return.
