We had a brilliant and very relaxing time on our honeymoon and this beautiful resort. All the staff are incredible, the service and hospitality is first class. A special mention to the bar staff at the beach bar on Falhumaafushi who were so helpful and friendly. But all the staff in the restaurants and bars are great, the food is lovely particularly at the French style restaurant. Joynal managed our house keeping, he was incredible, he made sure we always had everything we needed and went above and beyond to make the trip special.

My new favorite

We have been to Maldives 6 times, and this resort is best so far. It puts emphasis on details that important for me and my wife (big villa, all inclusive, attentive and helpful staff). The reef is hard to get to (strong currents an long distance), but it's worth it! All inclusive includes unlimited alcohol. And special thanks to Ramesh barista!

Best resort in Maldives

Excellence is a word often overused, but in the case of The Residence it is entirely appropriate. From our arrival into Male International Airport until we departed Koodoo on our return leg, we were treated wonderfully. The front of house team on both Islands were professional throughout. The accommodation standards were first class and the efforts of the housekeeping team were outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and Raushann our housekeeper who looked after us during our time is a real credit to those standards. We can state with confidence that during our 14 night stay, we enjoyed every single meal and the standards achieved by Chef Ashish and his senior team particularly, Ajay Kumar was outstanding. On more than one The restaurant staff on both Islands were outstanding, but both Sajith from Li Bai/Long Island and Shina from Falhumaa merit a particular mention because of their excellent interpersonal skills and warm personalities – they are true ambassadors for everything that is special about the Maldives. I would also like to praise the hard working grounds and gardening team who work tirelessly to keep the resort looking beautiful – they work so hard but always find the time to offer a warm greeting to guests. As a returning guest, there is always a danger that the next trip doesn’t match the memories of the last one, but not at The Residence – it just gets better. We look forward to visiting again soon and once again thank you to your special team.

Nestled on the unspoilt island of Falhumaafushi in Gaafu Alifu atoll, one of the largest and deepest atolls in the world, this 94 beach-front and over-water villa resort is an intimate retreat. The beauty of the island’s house reef and its resident sharks and turtles is accessible right from the over-water villa deck. Designed to complement its tropical surroundings and provide a sense of place, the villas have been created using natural materials and are decorated with local artefacts. The Spa by Clarins on both Falhumaafushi and sister resort on adjacent Dhigurah island is exclusive to The Residence in the Maldives and offers a range of treatments created exclusively for the resort – an ideal place to escape as it sits directly on the lagoon. The resort boasts three restaurants and four bars, water sports, a fitness centre, kids club and excursions to nearby islands. The romantic Falhumaa restaurant is located at the end of a 230m jetty, right on the reef facing the Indian Ocean. The diving surrounding the hotel is exceptional and the hotel’s PADI 5* Dive Centre offers all level of snorkellers and scuba-divers the opportunity to discover the un-spoilt coral reefs and rich marine life.
