I have recently arrived from a week in your resort in Mauritius and I am still in quite a shock, on several experiences we encountered during our stay, that I would like to share with you. We were travelling a total of 7 people (2 adults and 5 children, ages 15-10 years old) and stayed in 3 bedrooms in the hotel. Firstly, upon arrival (with lack of sleep), the check in process took too long, no information given on when the rooms were going to be ready (I requested weeks in advance for at least 1 room to be available to facilitate showers, and organize kids). Fortunately, the rooms were given to us after an hour and a half wait. The service in the beach areas (Palm tree and in front of the Plantation restaurant), had very little personnel. We had to chase the waiters for drinks, food etc.. and the service provided was awful, both in waiting times, and approach to customer. We tried in numerous occasions to get the glass bottom boat, and was neglected each time, the opportunity to board it to have a look with the kids. Once we arrived 10 min late, and missed the boat, and we were not given an opportunity to be accommodated in the next run as all the time the boat was busy. I tried in 3 occasions to change money, and reception only had available 200 euros one day, and nothing the next 2 days, having to go to the local exchange shop in the town adjacent to the hotel. My youngest son, who is 10 years old, was authorized (without our approval), to change money at the front desk- something I find incredible, as normally we were asked for passport and also being underage (not 18 years old), borderline with illegal. The buffet in general was very poor. Yes there was variety of things, but the food was cold, too repetitive, and the kids ended up eating pasta and pizza every day. For a family friendly hotel, other options should have been available. We were suggested to try the Plantation restaurant, which we did on the second night. What was our surprise, when we were told by the maitre “kids HAVE TO HAVE THE KIDS MENU” Excuse me? We were never told there was an obligation for kids to be subject to food outside the regular menu. I finally had to ask for the manager, as the maitre at the time (a woman), was increasingly being more rude and getting on our nerves. After chatting coherently with the manager, we managed to get things sorted, but with the consequent upset for all of us on our second night on holiday. I went with 2 of my kids to the fitness room, as they wanted to try out some machines, and the notice on the door clearly says under 16s have to be accompanied by an adult, which was the case, as I went there with them. A rude woman in the front desk of the SPA, escorted us out of the gym saying the kids could not try the step machines, and apparatus, as they were too young. Excuse me? I went with my 13 and 11 year old who come with me to the gym in Spain. After a rude experience with her, I proceeded to go to the sauna, at least give them the opportunity to try it out in a country outside Spain. We were again escorted in a very rude an abrupt manner by the lady in the front desk, saying the minimum age to use those facilities was 18 years old. Once again, kids couldn´t experience the hammam or sauna. In the beach, I had to move around the sun loungers, and get myself towels, as there was a lack of personnel to assist, something incredible in a hotel of this category. Lastly, the check out at reception also had its part in the final stages of our trip. The lady in the afternoon/night once again said “YOU HAVE TO DO THE CHECK OUT NOW”, as apparently, we were leaving at 6am, and there was no one there at that time capable of checking out. Approach to customer service was terrible, once again. One last thing, the breakfast given to us, early AM on our day of departure, was terrible. Just the odd croissant, and instant coffee. Really??? We had breakfast at 530 am, when you normally open at 730am, it was not possible to offer something more substantial? A decent coffee? Some toast? I think this was terrible.
