Just home from a wonderful week at Sankara. Rooms - we upgraded and had a large room which had everything we needed and was serviced every day. Yes, I take on board from other reviewers that the towels aren’t always crisp and white and can be quite rough to use but it didn’t distract from our comfort. You only have to ask and I’m sure they would be replaced. Location - 2 hours from airport but a great way to take in the scenery on route. The Staff can’t do enough to help and everyone you pass acknowledges you with a simple hello or a chat to see if everything’s ok. Ubud centre 15minutes by hotel shuttle. Big thank you to Head Chef Asta and all his team for providing such high quality food and presentation of both his food and service by the staff. We always had a good time with Emi when he was serving us and he even taught us some of their language and wrote phrases down for us to learn - Suksma Emi. We paid for a personal cooking session with Head Chef Asta who took us to the early morning market which was a great experience and supported us in cooking our own 4 course lunch - a fantastic experience made special by Asta - Suksma. And finally the biggest of thank you’s to the amazing Komang - he picked us up at the airport and filled us in with knowledge of the hotel and Bali as a country on route to the Sankara. We booked 2 trips directly through the hotel and they were both with Komang who took us literally everywhere with a constant smile on his face - rice terraces, coffee plantations, temples, wood carving centre, Bali swing and monkey forest - constantly explaining about everywhere. And finally, he came in at 5am to drive us back to the airport, nothing was too much trouble for him. Suksma Komang. No hotel is perfect and there are faults if you look for them but nothing took away from us the enjoyment we had throughout the week and we’ll definitely return when in Bali. Thank you all Steve/Rhian Wales 🏴
