This year was either my 4th or 5th time choosing to stay in Tigotan. Up to now, I've had pretty good stays here and very little to complain about bar the quality and variety of the evening food. Here's my 2025 review: Tigotan was renovated in 2016. The hotel itself is very clean and bright, beautifully designed and laid out, cleaned daily from 8am to mid afternoon (you'll hear the cleaners). The higher floor rooms are large enough (double size) with double sliding door storage wardrobes, a large shower and his and her basins with shampoo, conditioner and light toiletries. The rooms come with safe, hairdryer, kettle (no tea, coffee or sugar), fridge, air con and balconies that vary in size depending on location as well as a large TV (42 inches or larger) with both English and non English channels. English speaking are channels 40-60 BBC, itv, ch4. Some of the rooms could use a freshen up. The ground floor rooms are larger, larger balcony or patio areas and are accessible for those with disabilities. Assuming you don't leave a do not disturb sign out, the staff will clean your room (floors, balcony, rubbish, shower, towels) every day, early! The corridors can be dark. Some people complain about it. Every single door has 1-2 spotlights over them. Personally, I like it. I've never had any issues with anyone being loud. I've only once seen one cockroach at 3am in the corridor. Pick a high room if they're a concern. There are plenty of sunbeds and you only see 3-4 people looking for beds late in the day. You can walk out at 11.30 and get poolside if you wait for a bed to free up. Don't expect to get one at 3pm though as easy. The pool is stunning and so too are both the Jacuzzis. Bar pool with food. Download a QR Scanner app on your phone and you can order from the bar to your lounger, a nice addition. Our camera didn't work scanning the QR code everywhere not just here so you may need a QR scanner app. The food is overpriced for what it is. €9-9.50 for a tomato and ham Baguette is outrageous when Yolo are selling similar next door for €5-6 and you can go to the hyper Dino across the road and buy same cheaper. This is poor considering what you pay per night for a room. If you want convenience, book a rooftop lounger or bed. It costs.. However.. Your money goes towards drinks or food. Some people are complaining if you don't drink alcohol etc etc the bundles include soft drinks, cocktails or mocktails but you need to choose one or the other. It is a good deal and it's better than it has been in previous years. Another positive is you have that bed for the day, you have the bar and servers there and the drinks from the rooftop are way way better than the poolside. It's ideal if you prefer quieter or a more private relax. Try a long island iced tea from the roof and any bar downstairs and you'll see what I mean about the difference in quality. You should note that we didn't drink 6 cocktails, we drank 3. When we asked the server if we had time constraints or could come back that evening to use up the drinks we were told we could. When we came back at 8 pm for the dj we were given two drinks and refused the last one because it was too late.. Despite what we were told earlier on. So you have up until either 6 or 8pm to drink what you already paid for!? Pool entertainment twice or three times daily with aqua aerobics, water volleyball, water handball, gladiators, foam Parties and numerous shows early and late in the evening they had either music bingo, live singers or a show. The entertainment was improved this year in teams of frequency. The quality was hit and miss. The poolside was great, the evening wasn't as good. You'd want to be heading out afterwards and not relying on their entertainment to be your nightly entertainment. There is such a wide gap In demography staying here so they try please everyone you need to bear that in mind. Breakfast was great. More so this year. Poached, scrambled and fried eggs, sausages (exceptionally low quality for what we're used to in UK and Ireland), bacon, black pudding!!!, baked beans and churros. Loads of breads and pastries, cava, yogurts, berries and fruits as well as small deserts. I loved breakfast. My only issue here was the tea bags. Lipton brand, not for me. There was No tea in the bedroom and poor quality tea at breakfast. Dinner was a different story. Something changed this year. While they had the meat grill for chicken, beef and veal certain areas let it down hugely. Dare I say this was probably the worst buffer dinner I've had and my partner agreed. It's great to see management coming and asking how everything was going, however, this should be done as we leave not as we sit down. They had Asian section with beautiful fried rice, no curry sauce which is bizarre to me, a' traditional' chicken curry made with drumsticks instead of diced chicken and a watery sauce, vegetable spring rolls and chips. The rice was nice but no sauce. A flavorless pork paella. Honestly, flavorless! Then there was spaghetti bolognese with no mince meat? Just pasta and sauce? Whoever is in charge of the dinner has no idea about their guests and they genuinely need to step it up. I'd never go half board here again, I feel like I wasted money. It wasn't cheap to stay here and we had to eat out most nights despite paying for half board. The dinner has me now considering whether I want to return here at all. The idea of having everything on site and not leaving is great. I'll happily stay inside and spend money but the hotel food has decreased in quality. It Defeats the purpose if I need to eat out every night. I'd pay for better quality especially with Up, volcano and med palace all close by and with better rates. You also need to pay for water with your dinner, no soft drinks etc. There are so many things I believe need to be improved to get their reputation back and to show the customer value for money. Tigotan is a beautiful hotel. Gorgeous rooftop bar and amenities with the gym, games downstairs, wellness center etc. Staff are great and it's adults only. Some people complained about cockroaches, I seen one in my whole stay as I left at 03.30am otherwise the hotel is clean! Be smart and pick a high floor, ideally on left or center to get evening sun and pool view is worth the upgrade rather than overlooking a laneway. The gym I used and is basic but OK. It's better to have than not have. I ordered a cake and bottle of cava for a birthday and paid about €60 - 70 for them. The cava was nice and the red velvet cake was stunning! This is my 4th or 5th year here and I don't know if I even got the returning customer discount but I got cheap not nice cava. I'm genuinely considering a different hotel for my next trip later this year and next year. I looked out over the pool area at sunset and looked at how young this hotel is. It looks like a hotel for young people and has been historically. Nice rooftop bar, wellness centre, gym, cocktails, nice pools, infinity pools and Hot tubs yet the demographic is elderly and seems to be slipping toward an older crowd.. Probably because of the entertainment etc. I think the hotel is losing its identity and will lose revenue by doing so. That's my honest review. Competition is fierce with local upgrades and new hotels offering all inclusive for marginally more than tigotan half board. The value is not there anymore in my opinion. It excels in places and falls wayyyy short in others. I'll always have a soft spot for the hotel and despise the idea of changing on my next holiday but paying over €150 a night to not eat and only put my head on your pillow is madness, no?
