This is supposed to be a five-star hotel. It is definitely not. First of all we arrived at the hotel at 11:15 at night after travelling for most of the day. For an all-inclusive five-star hotel, I expected some decent hot food to be available, such as pizza, chips, or something along those lines. All they had was soup that tasted of nothing, and bread! We ended up walking into the town and going to a takeaway to get hamburger and chips each. The hotel is only 10 years old, so quite modern. The rooms are nice, with good and quiet air conditioning. However there is a major problem with the toilet. The door has a huge gap all around it, and no lock! When other people in the room, you don't want to go to the toilet because, they will hear and smell you. Therefore, every time we wanted to do a number 2, we had to get the lift down to the ground floor and walk to the public toilet in the hotel, which took us 4 or 5 minutes each way each time. That was not very nice! We complained about this and we're offered another room, but this was exactly the same. Very strange! The hotel was advertised as having an a-la-carte restaurant. However this does not open until June. We were not told this. The a-la-cartw restaurant was one of the reasons we booked the hotel! There's not much to do. They do have entertainment every night but I wasn't very keen on it. I had a group called The Drifters who are quite good who did different types of music. But I certainly wasn't interested in the Colombian, Turkish, or African shows that they had on other nights. If you are English you will not be very happy with the food. In fact I thought it was terrible! There was very little that an English person would normally eat. Especially at breakfast time. There was no bacon, sausage, hash brown, fried bread or baked beans. I know you're going to say that they didn't have bacon and sausages because this is a Muslim country. So why did nearly every restaurant in the High Street nearby offer an English breakfast with sausages and bacon? If I can do it, why can't the hotel? Get a non-muslim chef!!! There were eggs and toast, and lots of cold meats, pastries and cheeses. They had chips for breakfast, but every morning they were cold and rubbery. They had clearly been slightly microwaved from the day before. They cook the chips in front of you for lunch and evening meal, but you don't see that at breakfast time. The best thing you could get for breakfast was an omelette, but with no ham! The food and especially breakfast, is clearly designed for local and Asian people. However this is very strange, as we were told that 60% of the guests are the hotel are always English. There were no hot desserts such as apple pie and custard. It was all just cakes. The lunchtime meal was not in the main restaurant but in the snack buffet area. Very little choice at lunchtime. Chips with some not very nice burgers, spaghetti, rice, Turkish bread, some chicken, and a couple of other things. The only item for lunch that I actually enjoyed was I lovely thick white sauce with mushrooms in it which I had with rice. Nice soft ice cream was available. Lunch was nearly exactly the same every day, just a couple of things changed. Evening meal in the restaurant was not any better. Same Asian type of food. Nothing like pizza, lasagna, roast potatoes, roast beef, pies, or anything you would normally have in England. And again for dessert, it was just cakes. Not even any ice cream. If you like cakes you would love it as there's a huge selection of cakes. But I don't really like sweet desserts. I would have done anything for Apple pie and custard, or a banana split! There are lots of bars with all the drinks you could want included. The staff are excellent. Especially the restaurant waiting staff. As soon as you put your cup or plate down, they take it away to clean it. Sometimes before you even finished your meal. The only problem I would say with the staff, is that not many of them speak English. This also applies to the reception staff. When 60% of your guests are English, you need most of your staff to speak English. I would phone reception and nobody would understand what I said! The beach was very, very stony. So that wasn't very nice. The pool was nice with lots of seating. Although this was meant to be all inclusive, the mini bar was extra after you'd drink the water and soft drinks that were initially in it. If you want to do a late check out, if you're flight is late, they want an extra 200 euros!!! This attitude was equal to the rest of Turkey. Everywhere you go, they are trying to rip you off! We went with TUI. The rep Maxine was supposed to be in the lobby at 11 a.m. according to the list we were given. But she wasn't. Eventually later in the day I managed to get hold of her when she came past the pool. I told her about my concerns, and she was not very sympathetic. When I said about there being no food available for later rival, she was very sarcastic and said "Did you expect a three course meal!" She even said this is a 4 star hotel, despite it clearly being advertised as 5 star, and a sign with 5 stars on it next to the front door. The best thing about the hotel was the entertainment staff, who interact with the customers. Every day they do water aerobics, and games. The twice daily darts is especially fun. Iklim Canpolat, the land sport chief, is especially brilliant, getting everybody involved, and cheering each other when they are playing games. I can't praise her enough. All her entertainment team are excellent! This was the first time I had been to Turkey. I don't know if all hotels are like this. But I would certainly never go there again. The two things I will remember from this hotel, are the terrible food, and the toilet door with the gap all around it! And the thing I'll remember about Turkey in general, is them trying to rip you off everywhere you go. One shop wanted £10 for two ice creams, but accepted £4 from me after I was about to walk away. We hired a jet ski which was £45 for just 10 minutes. I tried my best to haggle, but they wouldn't budge a penny. And the Jet Ski wasn't very good. It had been restricted to not go very fast. Also you couldn't turn very quickly, as they had doctored the steering. Even at the airport, the McDonald's charges £18 for a Big Mac meal!! That's £6-£7 in England. In future I'll stick to the Canaries or a TUI Cruise.
