We stayed at Ulu Segara for 5D4N during our visit to Bali in Mar-Apr,2025. It's huge property and beautifully located by the ocean. However, the management doesn't seem very good or at least "Bali standard." Huge rooms and bathrooms but barely any decoration or rather average interiors. Most places within the hotel have blank, bare kinds of spots, which look kind of awkward. When we checked in, there's no "welcome" feeling and it seemed the front desk person was more interested in wrapping up her day than the check in or answer a few questions we had regarding the resort & services. The resort description is also misleading as it doesn't exactly have direct beach access. The path to the beach is via their bar in the backyard, and it's super steep steps down the beach, which is very dangerous. We somehow managed to go down the steps. However, the beach down there is not at all worth the effort! It was dirty and mostly occupied by resort staff or nearby locals as their smoking/drinking spot. It felt very unsafe, so we came back without going further down to the beach. The staff is good and dutiful, however, they seem to lack good training. A lot of times, they're busy talking/chatting among themselves while the guests were waiting to be attended either at the restaurant or in common areas. The restaurant has very limited choices for vegetarians. The breakfast menu also had limited options for vegetarians. During our stay, I had breakfast only 1 day as there were no options for me being vegetarian, so I chose to stay back in the room and have an early lunch instead. It's not recommended unless you're really out of options in this price range. Ulu Segara is very close to some of the best resorts in Bali, and it's disappointing to see they're not even close to their neighbours when it comes to hospitality, guest services, and maintaining the beauty of the property.
