Universal's Loews Portofino Bay Hotel

I wanted to express my thanks for Charlie Clauson for such an amazing first experience staying at this resort. I was nervous to stay here as a team member but Charlie was so kind and went above and beyond to ensure we started our Anniversary Staycation on the right foot. Though there are hundreds of people who make this resort what it is, Charlie really stood out. Thank you for your kindness.

We had a fabulous time at Portofino Bay! I went with my sons, ages 12 and 14, and my mom (grandma's treat!). We stayed for 4 nights and took advantage of the early park admission and Fast Pass. We did 3 days at Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure and one day at Volcano Bay. We had dinner one night at the pool. The pool was awesome! My kids loved the slide and the structure and floats, but especially the hot tubs. The food at the pool was delicious. We had fish tacos and pizza, as well as smoothies. It was about 90 out and we decided to take a break from the parks from about 1:30 - 6 to chill by the pool. Lovely! We ate twice at Mama Della's. We came back from the parks to have a nice dinner with grandma and then leave her before staying in the park until close. The dinner was delicious, comfortable and excellent service. Afterward, we got gelato and sat outside in the piazza and enjoyed. On the last day we picked up a pizza and salad at Sal's before heading to the airport. It was perfect. We could have eaten all of our meals there. The room was beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Very roomy. We asked for it to be close to the boat dock and the pool--wow!--did the deliver. We looked out at the pool and quickly walked to the boat dock. Sometimes we chose to take the walking path to or from the parks to save time--especially trying to get on the Hagrid ride in the morning, that really worked well. The hotel staff helped answer our questions about how to get onto that ride without waiting 3 hours and other helpful park information, The ice was plentiful, the coffee maker in the room worked well with good coffee, the shower was large and my son even decided to take a bath one night. Everyone couldn't have been nicer. We were so pleased and will definitely be back!

This hotel desperately needs an update. The rooms are old, beds are creaky, and there is a musty feel to the room. The kids pool is very nice and Mamma’s restaurant on the property was great. The hotel is very convenient to Universal via boats, which run often.

Just stay at a Disney hotel. Any Disney hotel. No coordination with restaurants. Room design is basic. $1000/ night. Most rooms have no balconies or operating windows. Room service calls put on hold and delivery slow. We wanted to like the hotel but after a Disney hotel ( Animal Kingdom) It was very disappointing.

Beautiful place. Plenty of restaurant options. Catching the boat to the parks it’s so convenient. Family and comfort at its best. The pool and movie nights were a top favorite for the kids. The bar at the pool has amazing service for adults to enjoy their time as well.
