Velassaru Maldives

Our trip to Velassaru was nothing short of amazing. We arrived in the late afternoon and were warmly welcomed by the airport supervisor and the boat crew. Though I can’t recall everyone’s names, I truly want to express how humble, kind, and professional the whole team was from the very beginning. Despite the weather not being on our side during the stay, the incredible service from the team made our experience truly unforgettable. As soon as we checked in, we headed straight to the spa and that turned out to be the best decision. The spa at Velassaru is absolutely phenomenal.. We were warmly welcomed by Pam, the spa manager, and our wonderful therapists Titian & Dena, both of them had magic in their hands! My friend and I felt so relaxed and rejuvenated after our treatments. If there’s one thing I highly recommend doing at Velassaru, it’s definitely the spa experience. Later that evening, we had dinner at the Teppanyaki restaurant, and oh my god, the sushi was some of the best I’ve ever had! Every piece was crafted beautifully, and I found myself wanting to try everything. Chef Binito was absolutely outstanding ,his skill and presentation were simply top class. Throughout our stay, the warmth and friendliness of the entire team stood out. At breakfast, Riya sweet and approachable, made our mornings extra special. Also, a special mention to Shakoor, who was incredibly attentive and detail-oriented. And at the main bar, Zayan made our experience even more enjoyable with his wonderful service. To the entire team at Velassaru ,thank you so much for making our stay so beautiful. We’re already looking forward to coming back to this little slice of paradise. ♥️🫶🌸

People often ask us, “Why do you keep going back to Velassaru Maldives?” And honestly, the answer is simple: while the island is absolutely stunning, the real magic lies in the people. This was our fourth stay at Velassaru, and once again, it exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like family. There’s something incredibly special about the team here – their kindness, genuine warmth, and attention to detail are unmatched. We stayed in a Beach Villa with Pool, which was perfect for our family of four (our children are 3 and 6). It was spacious, beautifully maintained, and private – just what we needed. The resort itself is spotlessly clean, peaceful, and only a 25-minute speedboat ride from Malé, which makes it easily accessible even with little ones. Now to the heart of it all: the Velassaru team. A heartfelt thank you to: • General Manager Dennis and Resort Manager Marge – your leadership shows in every corner of the resort. • Dr. Hassan, the island doctor, who is kind, professional, and always reassuring. • At the Front Office, thank you to Sarah and Mohammed, always willing to help, always warm, and always making everything smooth and stress-free. • At Fen Bar, we were warmly looked after by Assistant Manager Siyadh, Viam, Zyan, and Akash the bartender – always smiling, attentive, and making us feel right at home (even when the kids weren’t at their best). • At Sand Restaurant, special thanks to Azumee and all the staff – the full seafood platter became our go-to dinner for 5 nights straight. Absolutely delicious! • At Teppanyaki, Chef Kevin entertained and delighted us with every meal, and Salam went above and beyond to make sure our children were happy – even bringing food from other restaurants when they weren’t in the mood for Japanese. That kind of service is rare and deeply appreciated. • At Vela Restaurant for breakfast, the service was just as wonderful. Chef Kevin again was there with a big smile, making sure we had everything we needed. The lovely lady at the Waffle Bar (we wish we remembered her name!) served us with such warmth and care every morning. And Rakesh, who made us the best coffee every single day – what a great start to each morning! • And of course, Chef Alessandro, the new Executive Chef from Italy – your pastas are incredible. Our kids (and we) couldn’t get enough of them! • At the Spa, a big thank you to Pem ,TT and Arun for their magical massages and always-positive energy. • At Immersion, thank you to Tom and Tisha for your excellent advice on snorkelling trips and marine adventures – we always felt safe, informed, and excited. • And a special thank you to Ali at the resort shop, who was always helpful, cheerful, and made sure we had everything we needed. Even though Velassaru is often seen as a couples’ paradise, we’ve never felt out of place as a family. On the contrary – the staff made sure our children were as welcome and cared for as any guest. That’s what sets this place apart. We’re already dreaming of our fifth visit, and we know it won’t be long. Velassaru, thank you once again for making our family feel so cherished. I continue to visit this stunning island each year, sometimes more than once a year and it is always paradise. Sun, ocean, pristine white sand and total relaxation. I never want to leave. The years fly by but the welcome is always warm and the staff so friendly, nothing is ever too much trouble. Service is discreet, professional and they deliver the highest standards always. Some of the staff have been there for many years and it is wonderful to see them each time and an indication of how they feel about the island. There are so many mentions in the reivews of Omary and his never ending smile, amazing Dr Hassan who is always on hand to help with whatever is needed, Ruchiro who makes the best cup of tea in the world and manages the restaurants so incredibly professionally, the front of house team who are extremely efficient from the moment you arrive and everyone who is part of the Velassaru family. They are truly amazing and make your stay one to never forget, yet so calmly and so beautifully, from greeting you at arrival on the jetty, to waving you goodbye. Room staff always ask what you need and make your stay comfortable, gardeners work hard to make sure the island always looks wonderful and smells of frangipane wherever you walk. Rooms are large and clean, beds are huge and there is a coffee machine (love this) which is restocked daily with your favourite pods. The outdoor showers are truly fabulous. The food is delicious in all of the restaurants and there is so much variety you are inspired to try new ingredients and menus. There are plenty of complimentary activities, from the morning cruises, snorkelling in the lagoon sunset yoga and cinema under the stars (with popcorn), the gym, photography sessions etc. There are plenty of additional activities to try, from tennis, to watersports, dolphin cruises, , manta ray trips, sting ray trips, big game fishing and the fabulous spa. I have tried them all over the years and can recommend them all. The special dinners, whether romantic, birthdays, special events, are definitely worth it for the setting alone, which they create on the day and is bespoke to your requirements, let alone the amazing food. I won’t forget the incredible dinner they created when I completed my master scuba diver there this time, memories that will last forever. There is plenty for every taste and pocket. If you go to the spa, I recommend the outdoor spa pool for watching the sunset, you will never forget it! Fen and Chill bar are both wonderful places to relax and enjoy a glass of something cold and make new friends. Sunrises and sunsets are breath-taking and waking up to see the ocean a few steps outside your villa, with a walk across the white sand to breakfast is heaven. It is never crowded, just wonderfully relaxed with a nice buzz. My absolute favourite is the dive team. The most professional and incredibly talented team. I learned so much about marine life from Tisha, the marine biologist that I even went to dive and see sharks, about an hour away. You are so well guided and advised that it was the most incredible dive ever, so I did it again the next day. I strongly recommend diving here, the safety, instruction and facilities are the best I have come across. Fathih is outstanding as an instructor and will ensure each dive is remarkable and tailored to you as much as possible. Whether you enjoy wreck dives, night dives, drift dives, it is all there if you want to go and see it, along with fantastic marine life, including sharks, rays, lionfish, octopus, turtles on every corner, hermit crabs, huge clams, barracudas, starfish, lobsters, sea slugs, eels, and many, many varieties of tropical fish and coral. Just remember to take plenty of memory cards and a good camera. The ocean is wonderfully clear and warm. There is nothing on this island that I could fault, it is a stands out from the rest (and I have been to a few others) and as another visitor said, an absolute gem, as are the team that run it. We have just returned from a most fabulous trip to Velassaru Island in the Maldives. From the moment we stepped from the speedboat, we were treated to a warm welcome, which carried on throughout our stay. All of the staff were cheerful, pleasant and helpful. A special mention has to go to Savio and Rakesh (aka The King of Cocktails!), who we met in the Chill bar on our very first lunchtime. They made us both feel at home immediately and we loved getting to know them during our holiday. They made sure that our chosen drinks were always spot on and served with a big smile!!! Great work guys!!! We stayed in a water bungalow, which was perfect for us. The beach villas also looked to be good as well. The breakfasts served in the main restaurant had a plentiful variety of choice. We tended to have a variety of fruits, which were sliced for you on demand. The pastries and waffle, crepes, omelettes options were also very good options. There are 3 restaurants which you prebook for. All are excellent! We tried all of them and couldn't find fault in any! Sand restaurant is on the beach with amazing views and fabulous food from the grill. Etesian restaurant serves a small menu, but the food is beautifully prepared. We went here for 'A Gourmet Celebration of Timeless Flavours' experience one evening, where each of the 5 courses was paired with a specially selected whiskey. It was certainly a treat! The restaurant manager (I think his name is Vinod) is discrete and attentive, and always helpful. Teppanyaki restaurant is over the water and serves japanese food with a flourish! We can't wait to go back!!!

We have just returned home after our 15th visit to velassaru.We have visited many islands in the Maldives, but velassaru is definitely our favorite. The moment you walk out of arrivals,there is a happy,smiley face to greet you.From then on everything is done for you.The transfer to the island is luxurious and faultless and only takes 25min.On arrival at velassaru you are warmly welcomed. We we're taken to our room 123(deluxe bungalow) The amenities in the room are everything you would expect from a 5 Star resort, including coffee machine, outside shower with loctaine products a state of the art television and great A/C.The room is located about 10 meters from the beautiful golden beach.The Beach never seems busy as the loungers with comfy cushions are well spaced. Now let's talk about the food (My mouth is watering as I write this). All the restaurants offer a fantastic choice from steak to sushi every meal we had was excellent,if I had to pick a favorite it would be sands as you are on the beach and the rib eye is the best I have ever tasted.Lets not forget the chill bar which has a great range of tapas and amazing sunset views. For the second week we moved to a beach villa with pool, this is beyond opulent, the outside bathroom is bigger than our front room at home. In the morning you can lie in bed marveling at the Sea. Now what really sets velassaru apart from other resorts is the world class service and genuine friendliness of All the staff, from management to gardeners.
