Velassaru Maldives

We stayed at Niva Velassaru in August on a family trip, and as frequent visitors to the Maldives who intentionally enjoy discovering different resorts, I can confidently say that this was one of our best experiences so far. The food was one of the highlights of our stay.** In addition to the main buffet restaurant, there are four excellent à-la-carte restaurants, all requiring advance reservations. I highly recommend trying all of them, as each one offers something different and the quality is consistently impressive. There are also two bars serving snacks, so you certainly won’t have to worry about food options or variety during your stay. In fact, each restaurant seems to be competing with the others for the title of best dining experience! The rooms were spacious and comfortable, although the private pool was smaller than we expected. The beach, however, was absolutely stunning. Having visited many resorts across the Maldives, I would confidently rank it among the top three beaches we have experienced in the Maldives. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. A special mention goes to Mr. Salam, who is in charge of the restaurants. He was always helpful and genuinely passionate about the food. If you visit, definitely ask him for his recommendations on what dishes to try. The main infinity pool was another highlight, with a depth of around 1.5 metres and a perfect water temperature. The island itself is not very large, which we actually enjoyed—you can comfortably walk around the entire island in about 15 minutes. Another major advantage is the resort’s proximity to Malé Airport. The boat transfer took us less than 20 minutes, which makes the resort particularly convenient, especially for families and travellers who prefer to avoid a long seaplane transfer. Overall, Niva Velassaru is highly recommended, particularly for couples and families who value privacy, beautiful beaches, excellent food, friendly service, and a convenient location close to the airport. We truly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

We found Niva Velassaru completely by accident after a very long and stressful day of switching resorts and what an amazing surprise it turned out to be! We arrived back in Malé at around 16:30 with no accommodation booked and were stressed about finding a resort that could still arrange a transfer that afternoon/evening. By pure chance, we met a tour guide who pointed us towards the Niva Velassaru airport desk. There we met Adam, who was absolutely wonderful. He quickly put us in touch with reservations, a rate was arranged, and before we knew it we were being escorted to their airport lounge. After some complimentary refreshments, we were on our way to the resort in a lovely, comfortable speedboat. Considering how stressful our day had been up until that point, the whole experience was such a relief. And then we arrived… Niva Velassaru is STUNNING! The food deserves its own five-star review. Everything we had was delicious and there was a fantastic variety. You definitely won't go hungry here! The one area I think could be improved is the clarity around rates, inclusions and exclusions. It seems unnecessarily complicated, especially with the all-inclusive package not necessarily meaning everything is included. For example, soft drinks could be included at breakfast but not at dinner, which we found quite bizarre. It would be much better if the packages and inclusions were simplified and made clearer. There's also a really lovely gift shop on the property, which is definitely worth visiting. After staying here, I completely understand why so many reviewers say they keep returning. You really do get what you pay for. Niva Velassaru was completely unplanned, but ended up being one of the best surprises of our trip to the Maldives. Sometimes the places you find by accident turn out to be the ones you're happiest you found! ❤️ Special shout out for Afa! Incredible receptionist.

Exceptional Experience at Niva Velassaru Maldives Our stay at Niva Velassaru Maldives was truly unforgettable. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, we experienced exceptional hospitality, outstanding service, and incredible attention to detail. We initially missed our scheduled speedboat transfer due to a small miscommunication regarding our flight details. The Niva Velassaru team handled the situation flawlessly. As soon as we reached their airport lounge, they arranged the next available transfer and made us comfortable with refreshments, Wi-Fi, and a relaxing waiting area. What could have been a stressful start turned into a seamless experience. The speedboat transfer took about 20 minutes and was comfortable, with bottled water and safety jackets provided. Check-in at the resort was one of the smoothest we’ve experienced. Rather than standing at a reception desk, we were welcomed with refreshing drinks in the lounge while all the formalities were completed for us. Our Water Villa with Pool exceeded every expectation. Beautifully designed, spacious, and luxurious, it offered breathtaking lagoon views, direct water access, and complete privacy. Waking up to the turquoise waters every morning was simply magical. The greatest strength of Niva Velassaru, however, is its people. Every interaction felt genuine, warm, and personal. The staff consistently anticipated our needs and made us feel truly cared for. The dining experience was outstanding throughout our stay. The dinner buffets featured an impressive variety of international salads, soups, breads, vegetarian dishes, chicken, lamb, seafood, fruits, and desserts. Breakfast was equally exceptional with live egg stations, fresh juices, pastries, salads, and a wide selection of hot dishes. Lunch at Turquoise Restaurant was another highlight, offering delicious Maldivian specialties, Indian cuisine, burgers, pizzas, pasta, seafood, and some of the best Maldivian prawns we’ve ever had. A heartfelt thank you to the wonderful team members who made our stay extra special: Reeya – A very special thank you to Reeya, who was exceptional throughout our stay. She was always approachable, proactive, and genuinely eager to help with every request, no matter how small. From coordinating with the kitchen when my wife wasn’t feeling well, arranging breakfast in our villa, organizing our floating breakfast at short notice, and assisting with several other requests during our stay, she consistently went above and beyond. She always greeted us with a warm smile, followed up to ensure everything was perfect, and made us feel genuinely cared for. Her professionalism, kindness, prompt communication, and dedication played a huge part in making our vacation so relaxing and memorable. Arina – Your professionalism and attention to detail in the dining area were remarkable. We never realized that even serving sparkling water with a lemon wedge could reflect such high standards. Watching you carefully place the lemon wedge into the glass using a wooden pick instead of touching it by hand was a small but unforgettable example of the exceptional training, hygiene, and attention to detail that define Niva Velassaru. Giri Prasad – Thank you for your warm hospitality, incredible baking skills, and wonderful fruit presentation. Your freshly baked soft rolls were among the best we’ve had and became something we looked forward to every day. Muru – Thank you for always accommodating our South Indian breakfast requests and preparing delicious dosas. Your kindness and willingness to customize our breakfast made every morning even more enjoyable. We would also like to thank the entire breakfast fruit, salad, and beverage team for their consistently attentive service, the housekeeping team for accommodating all our special requests, the laundry team for prioritizing our needs, and the photography team for capturing beautiful memories for us at short notice. Niva Velassaru Maldives is blessed with a beautiful island, crystal-clear waters, luxurious villas, and outstanding dining, but what truly makes this resort exceptional is its people. Their genuine warmth, attention to detail, and heartfelt hospitality transformed a wonderful holiday into an unforgettable experience. We arrived as guests and left with wonderful memories. We wholeheartedly recommend Niva Velassaru Maldives to anyone looking for a luxurious yet welcoming Maldives escape with truly world-class service. We are already looking forward to returning.
