Just returned from 10 days at The San Antonio. Still love this place which I class as my 2nd home however it is not as good as in previous visits. The lack of teaspoons at breakfast is a joke - you ask for one to be told we don't have any! And whoever thought a good idea to fully set the tables with plates needs to rethink this ... pointless. Just clutters the table - if you were dining at a 5* restaurant I could understand - far from it. Guests being let in for evening meal in shorts and the general dress code on an evening is something which needs addressing, both for ladies and gentleman. Don't want to be seeing short shorts, bum cheeks, excessive flesh, vest tops and baseball caps. Food is good - a couple of nights though did struggle to find something to eat. Paella, Chinese and the desserts as good as always. One question though ... where is the rhubarb crumble?!! Missed by many!! Restaurant staff polite and friendly however some of the young newbies need to be more alert to plates which need clearing and not stood about talking or looking at their mobile phones. Housekeeping staff as friendly and efficient as always. Reception staff are nice apart from a couple who you dread approaching. Sean and Alex are as hard working as always. I do feel it inappropriate that a couple of the pool bar staff, who have worked there many years, sometimes chat amongst themselves in Spanish when serving you - makes you feel uncomfortable as you are given the impression they are talking about you / laughing about you - not a nice feeling. Would be nice if on an evening the cocktail bar had more than one member of staff taking drink orders. Can take a while to get served sometimes. They are all friendly however and a big shout out to Antonio (L I think??) who is a total gentleman; a real credit to the hotel. Now to the entertainment - other the Code Red everyone else during the whole of our stay were dreadful. Words can't even describe how bad especially the Queen tribute. He thought he was fabulous, nope. Despite the few grumbles I still love the San Antonio. This hotel and the island hold many happy memories and I do hope to return one day.
