On arrival at the hotel we were met by porters who took out bags into reception. Reception staff were blunt and not helpful in the slightest and didn't seem to speak any English (it gave such a wrong impression and luckily throughout our stay other staff gave a better impressions) We arrived at 22:00 and asked where we could get food and the reception staff pointed at a piece of paper which gave times for meals and he tapped on soup service at 23:00 and didn't even tell us were to go. When they gave us our room keys their English got dramatically better when trying to upsell us to a better room for over 100 euros to which we declined (the only difference was the view from the balcony) the hotel is split into two sides with pools in the middle and then a bridge over the motorway takes you to the kids pools and entertainment area. There is security everywhere so that nobody can sneak in and lifts or ramps if you struggle with steps. The room was adequate and had a double, a large single and a sofa bed. As we were 2 adults and 2 kids this was all we needed. The room had Aircon, TV, fridge with water, bath with shower, safe and built-in hairdryer. The balcony looked over the back of the hotel which was pretty much a building site but we didn't plan to spend much time in the room. The WIFI in the hotel is good but it cost 10 euros for 7 days which is cheaper than EE wanted to charge me so we paid it (you get this in reception) Food was plentiful and there was always something to eat somewhere. My kids are the fussiest and they managed to find spag bol, burgers, chips, chicken, pizza etc. Throughout the day different areas would open for a couple of hours and and serve snacks such as ice cream, kebab wraps, waffles, patisserie. At lunch if you're by the kids pools there is a servery area that does burgers, pizza, pasta, salad, deserts, chicken etc. This is handy as it means you don't have to walk all the way back to the main restaurant. Drinks wise there are plenty of bars scattered over the site and you can get your normal non brand spirits, soft drinks and beer, cocktails and mocktails. The queues can get fairly long for these bars but if you see staff waiting tables you can ask them to get you some drinks and they will (a small tip is expected). The hotel does have large groups of guests who tend to stick together and there is no limit on drinks so you may find 2 people getting 12 drinks etc. Dotted around the resort you will see extra delights to try and get a few euros out of you such as popcorn, slushies, candy floss, arcade machines, ride on light up bikes and so on. The pools are nice and well maintained but are a tad chilly. Each morning they are cleaned and the areas washed down. There are plenty of sunbeds but the good spots do get reserved and once again with the large groups they tend to reserve whole rows. There are lots of lifeguards who do seem to be paying attention but I would suggest you watch your own kids to be sure. Adults are not allowed in the kids water park which is rubbish if you want to play with your children. There are a few shops built into the hotel which come in handy if you run out of things. If you leave the hotel by the bridge and turn right there is Gold island which is a collection of resorts and shops about 15 minutes walk away with shops selling the usual fakes but they tend not to haggle as they know they get the footfall whereas if you turn left towards the dolphin park there is a small shopping center selling the same but they will haggle but they can be a little more pushy. You can also get a free taxi to Alanya to visit “Jimmy” you will be picked up in a people carrier and dropped to a shop full of fakes. You get free drinks and a personal shopper. Nothing has a price and once you've finished selecting what you like you get sat down and the haggling starts as a price for everything. As you've not left the shop you can not really compare prices but you will be paying over the odds I can assure you. They will tell you that their fakes are better quality but two shops down sell exactly the same. For the sake of a free taxi it's best to get the bus to Alanya or go to the gold island and shop around. We didn't try any excursions but our rep Hussein was helpful with showing us what was on offer and wasn't too pushy. My partner did try the hotel massage which she said was good but the upselling after was excessive and after a 30 minute back massage they advised that she needed a massage each day to rectify all her issues and when she tried to leave they kept trying to force a sale. The daytime pool activities such as trampoline aerobics and pool yoga were for adults only despite my kids wanting to take part they were not allowed. The night time entertainment was a mini disco from 2100 which was the same handful of songs and then handing out what the kids had made in kids club that day. The shows were good but on my opinion but they were too late. Most started at 2200. The circus and cyber party, Cleopatra party were great fun and the kids enjoyed pretending to be clubbing with their mocktails. The resort had clearly put some effort into these shows but it might be worth them making the music child friendly and finding the non explicit versions. The hotel itself needs some work as certain areas let it down. It is outdated in areas but the staff seem to try hard to keep it looking good. The staff in general are polite but some are grumpy and give you a look of disgust if you require anything from them. Our room had fresh linen and towels daily and was kept clean by housekeeping. As with most things in life some people spoil it for the rest. The issues are not the hotels fault as such and tend to happen in most resorts. There are people that take the all inclusive to the extreme and can not handle their drinks, food waste is obscene, kids unattended running riot and being sick, smoking everywhere and anywhere, people playing their own music which isn't always child friendly. All in all I wouldn't say it's a five star hotel. I would give it a solid 3.5/4. I've stayed in some great 5* hotels and this is not there yet. I wouldn't listen to all the moaning reviews but some do make valid points. I probably wouldn't choose this hotel again but only as I like to try new hotels each time but it's worth a go if it's in your budget and as always it's what you make it.
