Overall a great stay!

30 Jun 2025
We've just got back from a weeks stay with our 4 children. We originally booked self catering but had issues with our hire car (not their fault) we ended up being contained to the resort and found the shop costly so decided to upgrade to all inclusive. The villa was very nice, lots of space for a larger family for a week stay, it would have been nice to have some kind of table/chairs on the upstairs balcony as we had young children who were asleep in bed. We had a lovely sea view but found we were one of the furthest away which was a 15/20 minute walk from the main resort which was sometimes hard work with a 2 year old and 4 month old in the heat of the day, it would have made it easier to be closer. We were very happy with the drinks offered, we don't drink alcohol but loved the cocktails (as did our 11 year old!) the food had lots of choices, but found the deserts just different variations of custard and cream. We loved the pool area and found it the perfect size to let our two older children go off by themselves. When we arrived people were complaining about people running for sunbeds but we didn't have that problem as we arrived the last day of half term so was quieter. The staff were also incredibly friendly, especially the reception team who always had a chat with us and our children! All in all really happy with our stay and for a budget friendly holiday I would recommend!

Overall, bad.

31 Jul 2024
I want to start this review off by talking about the life guards, they are not experienced at all. A few months back when I came here, I was about to drown, and the nearest life guard was chatting up some random boy. Thankfully a person nearby helped me. Another thing about the life guards? Theres only 4. And sometimes 3. Food Food was excellent, the chicken was a little under cooked, so I didn’t eat it. The pasta was perfection tho, I recommend getting it. The moose’s tasted awful, definitely the strawberry one. waterslides (READ.) When I came here, I went on the big yellow and green one, and cut my eye open. And was carried to the first aid area by a life guard. What did the “doctor” do? Give me stitches (hurted a lot) and some medication that was supposed to help with the pain. Didn’t work at all. I ended up with a black eye for the full holiday. Location In the middle of nowhere. Took an hour to get there from the airport, fell asleep multiple times because the coach was stuck in traffic. (Very unusual for fuetaventura) and when we got there, we were stuck in reception for 2 hours. Not to mention we saw 4 cockroaches on the floor. Hotel rooms Nice hotel rooms, first time being in a 2 floor hotel room. The sofa in the living room is uncomfortable . If you leave a crumb on the floor you will get ants all over the room the next day. Not to mention there was loads of ants under my pillow when I left a crisp under it. Overall, I would NOT go back here, the only enjoyable moment was going back home. Please don’t come here but do if you want to be injured.

Great family holiday

30 Jun 2025
Just returned from a family holiday here, had a great stay. We went all inclusive, pools were great, food and drink was great. We had a standard 2 bed villa for 2 adults and 3 children. The accommodation was fine, lots of space in the bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Evening entertainment was great and there was lots of games around the pool every day. Kids joined the kids club a couple of times and enjoyed it. Place was very clean. Would definitely return to the resort again. It is in an isolated place, but we didn't plan on leaving the resort so that was fine for us. There was a free bus into town to book for free if yiu wanted to.

We had a nice holiday but wouldn't return sadly

31 May 2025
I think there are a lot of good points about this hotel but it also has some fundamental issues which I won't list here because I see they have already been covered by everyone else. Fundamentally I think this hotel was originally set up to service self-catering guests intending to use the resort as a base for exploring the north of the island. I can only think the all inclusive option was an add on and the hotel cannot cope with the volume of AI guests and doesn't have the capacity to meet their needs - hence meal time, sun bed and evening entertainment chaos. The hotel is also not necessarily attracting the right calibre of guest, which maybe a pricing issue, hence why the hotel has to charge a 200 euro deposit of check in - I've never encountered this before and says a lot about the quality of the guest. It almost feels like the hotel wants to drive guests away from the hotel itself by not having sufficient loungers, seating and snacks for its guests. But AI guests normally want to stay at the hotel to benefit from included food, drinks and amenities. There's a definite conflict here and the hotel should seriously reconsider its AI offering and go back to self catering if it cannot meet needs of AI guests, I can only assume its due to greed of hotel owners. We approached management a couple of times throughout our stay with constructive criticism and suggested some quick fixes to help relieve fundamental problems, such as add more chairs to entertainment area in the evening, take sunbeds from villas to available space round the kids pool and open up adult pool during peak times. Sadly hotel managers were simply not willing to make any changes. I understand there's also some politics whereby this hotel was originally supposed to be a five start hotel attracting families who use the hotel as a base to explore and spend money in the surrounding resorts, bars and restaurants. This has not happened and the hotel has transitioned to a 4 start AI sadly attracting the wrong type of guest, that in my experience were mostly selfish and greedy. If you can put all this to one side though, you will have a lovely holiday as we did - we just got out everyday and spend a lot of extra money on food and drink for the privilege. It's just a shame, as you work so hard to afford a family holiday in the first place, its disappointing when it falls short of expectations and the hotel will gladly take your money but not willing to make basic changes or improvements. On this basis, we will sadly never return to the hotel and its also put me off visiting the island again.

Won’t be retuning!

30 Jun 2025
We returned yesterday after paying for all inclusive to this 4 star resort but we don’t believe it should be advertised as such. The photographs advertised on holiday websites are very misleading and are actually from 2014. Although it is clean, the whole place looks very tired and in desperate need of a refurb. Majority of staff are rude and abrupt, in particular the dining staff. No rapport with the children, no fuss of them made, not even a hello when you walk in. One of the dining staff caused a scene and actually chased after my children shouting at them that they were not allowed to eat their food outside when there were no free/clean tables inside, yet a couple of days later we saw a family sitting outside and eating their meal. I’m not a fussy eater but in my opinion, the food was very hit and miss, pretty much the same choice every night, very little looked appetising although there was a good choice of salad and desserts. The food hall is always absolute chaos, we were a family of eight and would struggle to get a table together, lots of free tables that hadn’t been cleaned or re-laid, lots of food on the floors including bird poo from the birds that had flown in and couldn’t get out. Witnessed a few domestics between different families over tables, staff never interjected. The pool opens at 10am and closes at 6pm sharp, but if you want a sun lounger you have to get there for 830am AT LEAST to queue and be in with a chance of getting a bed. There is a stampede when the gate opens with fully grown adults pushing, shoving and sprinting for beds. Never seen anything like it. On the first day we didn’t know about having to queue so when we arrived after 10am with five children (including a six month old) there were no sun loungers left, so after paying thousands of pounds, we spent the day sitting on some concrete steps. There are some small pools dotted around the resort, but we only saw one with water in and no facilities for drinks or food. The “snack bar” at the pool offers help yourself cups of crisps and nuts and ham & cheese sandwiches (which you have to ask for.) Hotdogs you have to pay for. There is also a freezer with yogurt sized pots of ice creams. The cocktails come out of a machine and taste like thick syrup with no alcohol in them. The children loved the pools and slides at the resort, there are a good number of lifeguards who were all switched on and friendly. The toilets are clean. The wave pool is lethal, watched at least ten people slip and crack the back of their head on the slippery floor which obviously needs resurfacing. We highly recommend the water park in Correlejo, a 20 minute drive away. Friendly, good food, plenty of slides and plenty of sun loungers to go around. We had a two bed apartment which was clean, however our double bedroom was two rickety single beds pushed together with two single mattresses and two separate single sheets. There was a spacious balcony terrace with no furniture to sit and have a drink in the evenings. Pavements are horrendous, not suitable for prams or anyone who’s unsteady on their feet. We mostly walked in the road with the pram. Heard a rumour whilst we were there that this complex will be closing next year - would make sense why they have no desire to invest in the place and have miserable staff. - I’ve seen the responses from the hotel on other reviews here - all similar issues to what I have written yet nothing has been done to improve. Queuing system for everything reminded me of a theme park. Queuing in single file to get to the one bar, queuing for the coffee machine at breakfast, queuing for toilets, queuing for the pool. Doesn’t appear the resort is able to cater for the amount of guests they have staying. To sum it up, if you enjoy queuing on holiday, this place is for you. I would hate to think how chaotic this place is during the peak of summer.

Tripadvisor Overview

Discover the Fuerteventura Origo Mare resort, in the north of the second largest island of the Canary Islands. If it had to be summed up in two words, they would be water and fire. Water, of course, for its 150 km of beaches, but also for its vast aquatic space. Fire for its volcanic landscape, the sun that shines almost all year round, the warmth of the atmosphere and the large number of activities. Our resort is located in this protected environment, a paradise specially designed for holidays. The resort is divided into 5 zones, made up of villas with suites and studios. There are endless activities to do in and around the resort. Sports facilities include tennis and paddle tennis courts, a boules court and an 18-hole mini golf course. Windsurfing, kitesurfing, surfing and many other activities are available at the Yolo Riders surf school. And those who prefer fresh water will have a great time at the Craterpark. This volcanic-themed aquatic area of 5000 m², of which 1000 m² are water areas, has it all: wave pool, slides, water tree and paddling pool. In addition, our heated pool reserved for adults is a haven of peace and quiet. The little ones can make friends and have fun in our clubs for children from 4 years old. It should also be noted that, for your convenience, the resort has two restaurants, two snack bars and a bar open all day long. There is algo a mini-market included in the village. Parking is posible on all the resort's exterior area. Pets under 25kg are welcome under an extra charge.
