We have recently spent 11 nights at the White Olive and overall we have had a great stay. The hotel is clean, well maintained and the staff lovely and friendly. Shout out to the animation team for keeping us all entertained whilst we were there. Lovely guy who worked really hard. The layout of the hotel with the four separate pools makes it a little disjointed but once you got used to it we settled right in. Our room was large with a large balcony at the side of the hotel. Not much view but we didn’t care about that. The room was fairly modern with a large bed but the bathroom was small and somewhat worn. The shower was such an odd shape it made showering quite difficult and we had a smell from the drains intermittently throughout then stay. We did complain and they immediately sent housekeeping to clean the room again and suggested we return for a room swap the following day. We stayed where we were for convenience, as we don’t spend too much time in the room anyway, but we appreciated the offer. The hotel was fairly quiet. We had no problem securing a sun bed and you could pretty much grab a bed at all times throughout the day. The guests were made up mainly of couples, with a few families and as we moved into June we started to see groups of lads and girls who were well behaved, just sometimes a bit noisy when they came in in the early hours. The majority of the guests here were Polish, Chechs and German, not so many English. The hotel is situated close enough for you to get to bars and restaurants, but far enough from the strip for it not to impact you. The strip is close enough though if that is what you want. You can walk to the beach in 5 minutes and there are plenty of tour and hire places close to the hotel as well as super markets. If you stay here please go to The Island restaurant at the top of the road - food is amazing and they can’t do enough for you (great veggie options), and to the Garden of Eden for a pint or two. The downside of this hotel was the food. All inclusive is always a bit of a mix and meals are made up of foods you wouldn’t normally put together but we struggled here at times, my husband more than me as he is vegetarian. Breakfast was the standard English and continental breakfast but lunch and dinner were a lot more mixed and difficult to find something to eat. The dishes were all very nicely made. For the majority the food was hot but there was nothing really for children. I don’t expect to eat English food on holiday but it’s always easier if there are basics to draw things together and whilst you’d get a lot of rice it didn’t necessarily go with what you were eating and chips or potatoes of some sort would have been better. There was a rotation of chips, butter baked wedges and mash on some nights but please don’t rely on seeing chips/pizza/burgers every day especially for the kids if they are fussy. If you are vegetarian you will struggle to eat. We found it frustrating that they would have pasta on but the would add sausages to the napolina sauce. Or do a cheese sauce with non veggie cheese. The mixed salads always had meat tossed through it. There was nothing for vegetarians at the pool side bar. The pizza, when it was available, always had meat on it, the sandwiches were cheese and ham and the wraps, tuna. One of the things I found frustrating was the pool side bar closed at 7 pm. After dinner service, there was no where to get snacks at all, so again, if you had kids that wanted something for supper or you were a bit peckish there was nothing on offer. The drinks were a mixed bag. Please don’t expect named soft drinks i.e Coca Cola etc as they are all local brands on offer. The coke was rubbish but the orange very tasty. Alcohol drinks were ok. Ask for a double on the spirits, the beer was ok at 3.5%. Overall we had a great holiday and we would go back but perhaps on a B&B basis if that was available.
