It was so great to get back to a better-quality resort this April after staying elsewhere in Cancun last December. This was my 9th stay at Wyndham Alltra Cancun and so many staff told me “Welcome Back!” I really did feel welcomed, and I am sure that Jorge Salas had something to do with that… he really understands how to ensure that guests are comfortable. Apart from an unfortunate incident where I was briefly trapped in the bathroom when the door knob came off 😳, I had one of the greatest weeks ever: • The room had its usual comfy bedding — you don’t get this at some other resorts — sleeping was so peaceful and dreamy. • The service at the buffet and poolside was lovely. • The food at the buffet was delicious, with great variety for all appetites and diets. • The VIP lounge was open for business, and my Espresso Martini yummy! • Daily pool volleyball is so much fun, and Bingo too (I won!!). • The enforcement of “no smoking” on the premises is so appreciated. • The night-time entertainment was lovely — especially the female singer who sang a lot of popular songs to get people dancing. • The sea was a lot calmer than usual and so easy to float and swim in, and there was no shortage of sun and mini treasures to find while sand-sifting. Some things I picked up on that could use some tweaking or improvements: • VIP lounge was quite chilly at times, and not very relaxing with the FOOSBALL table crashing in the background, and loud kids at times, and the light snacks/appetizers were not very upscale — I had been at another VIP lounge recently that had a quieter ambience with more comfy seating, good music, softer lighting, an age restriction (or kids allowed when accompanied by an adult), and really great-crafted and tasty snacks (mini ceviche bowls, and other elegant delights). • New poolside cabanas blocked the view of the pool and pool activities, as well as the entertainment staff… I had to get up and stand in the sun to participate in bingo or enjoy watching the activities — otherwise I could only hear and imagine what was going on… it would be better if cabanas were on the outside edges of the platform (behind the lounge chairs) so that they didn’t block the view of all the lounge chair guests (or the view of kids while parents are in the pool). • In the Main Bar: the contrast of seeing and hearing a beautiful singer on the stage accompanied by a floor to ceiling GIANT screen of a soccer game or wrestling match behind her was quite jarring — an ambience channel or even a black screen behind her would have been a huge improvement, not to mention more honouring of the entertainer’s talents and performance. • Sports Arena/Soccer Field: needs a time limit posted or the field locked up to ensure guests on that side of the resort can have some peace and quiet — listening to the ball smashing and kids yelling late at night (past 8, 9, 10, and 11pm) is hardly relaxing when you want to have some peace and quiet in your room after an active and adventurous day full of loud people and activity noise. There is no perfect resort out there, but Wyndham Alltra Cancun (after 9 visits!) really still checks a lot of the important boxes if you want to have an enjoyable stay on the seaside… I was very happy to be back, especially seeing so many familiar, friendly, and welcoming faces… besides yummy food and great service, the smiles and friendliness are priceless. I know it is just a job to most staff at many resorts, but please Wyndham Alltra, do not ever underestimate how important this is! 🖤
