We had a very disturbing and humiliating experience at the Wyndham Sea Pearl Resort Phuket, membership presentation. Despite meeting the stated income criteria, we were told that the program was “only for businessmen” and were repeatedly made to feel that we could not afford it. The presenter was dismissive and offensive, and later, in front of other guests, a Wyndham staff member mocked us with racist remarks, questioning our credibility and sarcastically asking if we only wanted “free chai, coffee, water.” We had come with an open mind to genuinely consider membership, but left insulted and shocked at the discriminatory and unprofessional behaviour. This is unacceptable for a global hospitality brand. Wyndham must take accountability and ensure such conduct is never repeated.
