From the moment we arrived in the Maldives, it felt like stepping into another world! All of those Instagram photos you see are actually real!! The water is crystal clear, the sand is soft and white, and the sunsets quite literally take your breath away. We were treated like royalty from the very beginning, greeted off the seaplane by our island host and a team of staff with drums, singing, and beautiful necklaces made from palm leaves. Then cold towels and prosecco. It was such a special and unforgettable welcome. Our island host Nattu was always on hand if we needed anything. He sent a message each day with our itinerary and happily changed anything for us if we wanted. It felt like we had our own private island here, due to the war and guest numbers being low we were usually the only ones at the pool, however, our host says it is often quiet on the beach even when there is full capacity. We stayed in an aqua suite with a private pool and it was absolutely stunning. The bed was incredibly comfy, the views were unreal, and every single day we had rays, sharks, and tropical fish swimming right around our villa, it felt like living in a dream. Also, the floating breakfast in the pool was a lovely experience! The staff pour your water each day, you can’t lift a finger here!! The food was amazing and so fresh, with so much variety. What really stood out though was how far the staff went to make everything perfect for us. When I mentioned I like my food a bit spicier, the general manager personally arranged something special. The following evening, the chef came to our table to talk us through a selection of Sri Lankan dishes he had prepared just for us, and we were seated right on the beachfront, it was such a thoughtful and personal touch. Most evenings, a live band plays while you eat your dinner. We also treated ourselves to a Bali spa massage during our stay, and it was honestly one of the most relaxing experiences we’ve ever had. You can see the fish through a glass window on the floor. The setting was beautiful and peaceful, and the whole experience left us feeling completely refreshed, it was the perfect addition to an already magical honeymoon. The H2O underwater restaurant experience was magical, with wonderful food, and a chef who interacts with guests in such an intimate setting. This is a must when you are here!! A special mention has to go to Rose, who worked across breakfast, dinner, and also at the Green Carpet restaurant for lunch, as well as helping coordinate guests. She truly went above and beyond. When I was unwell, she made sure I was looked after, arranging for the chef to prepare a comforting noodle soup and even sending honey to our room. Her kindness meant so much and made a difficult few days so much easier. We also have to give a truly heartfelt thank you to Ankur, who made such a lasting impression on our honeymoon. He is one of the kindest, warmest people we met during our stay and genuinely went above and beyond for us every single day. Whether it was making us our favourite drinks at Cheers Bar, taking the time to chat with us, or simply greeting us with his constant smile, he made us feel so welcome and cared for. Nothing was ever too much trouble for him, he even hand delivered two fresh coconuts to our room when I was poorly. What meant the most was that on our last day, he got up early just to come and wave us off. He truly made our experience even more special and is an absolute credit to the resort. Every single member of staff genuinely wanted us to be happy and made our honeymoon feel so special. A few to mention: Viaam, always smiling and starting our day off right! Ruwan, another amazing barman who shared many travelling stories with us. Ravi at the Cheers Bar, who always has a smile. Sumit, a wonderful member of the restaurant team who aims to make your stay perfect. Vera—her little smiling face at aqua gym and yoga, she’s so much fun and also does the evening entertainment. Also Isha, Afey, Supan the fruit chef, Sharwin, Nasif, Inthi, Shinnu, Gabriel, and Dr. Arun, who gave me the best care when I was very poorly! He even came to the room and was always checking in on me. These really are the most wonderful and caring people! Now, there aren’t really many negatives, but if I’m going to nit-pick, I would say the music at the bar during the day is a bit repetitive (think “boots and cats” beat), and you also have elevator-style music playing from the Green Carpet, so there can be two sounds at once. Also, the prices for water sports are quite high. It’s not a huge problem as we mostly went snorkelling on our own, but it would have been nice to do more trips if they were more affordable. We’ve come away with the most incredible memories (and a framed photo made my our very talented island prince Nattu!! Thank you so much) We can’t recommend this place enough—it truly is paradise. On return visits you get one free night, so we will definitely be back!!!
